or part 202 of my sob story....

My Endodonist wants me to come in at 1pm and have him clean out the tooth again tomorrow.

I think im gonna just hide under the bed all day!
im semi-serious too its usualy 3 days of serious pain anytime its messed with and it only hurts about 60% of the time right now.

one of my coworkers went into the dentist after not going for a few years and she had just been ignoring some mouth and head pain...

well she had to have NINE teeth removed. 4 of which were wisdom but the rest somehow got affected by the wisdom and infected and she had to have them all removed. the dentist said if she had waited just a little longer she could have died from the infection if it went into her bloodstream and to her heart.

she was out of work for 1.5 weeks after the whole ordeal.

so you are doing the right thing by continuing with the treatment even though it sucks and it hurts....because hopefully this next time will be the last. man every time my root canal tooth hurts a little (it''s a little sore today) i just think ''holy shit 9 teeth!!!''. so not sure if that makes you feel better or not...but stick with it!! they WILL figure it out. good luck tomorrow!

Oh strmrdr. First off, I am so sorry to hear about this whole tooth fiasco. It really sucks. I can empathize. I just had a root canal, and it does hurt---for days! I''ll probably need another before the year is out, too. But I have to say, in the long run, it is probably worth it. The pain is temporary, and your teeth will be better in the long run! So be brave and come out from under your bed---
(I''ll try to follow my own advice next week when I have my wisdom teeth extracted)

the conditions causing the pain didn''t just occur overnight and they aren''t going to go away overnight.....and the link between oral health and infection isn''t just to heart disease.

so, grit the teeth you''ve got left and just do it, man! you''re a survivalist type and your number one survival tool/skill is your health!

ps i hate going to the dentist much less the specialist. my hubby neglected his teeth for so long he''s going in every three months for one thing or another....and his family has a history of heart disease at a young age so this is really a serious issue. any time i even think about skipping part of my dental routine i look at his tools, gadgets, and liquids he has to use [or is supposed to use] now because of his neglect...and i''m motivated to keep to my routine.

That cracked me up - I can almost envision you saying that.

I know under the bed sounds cozy strm but it is true about the infection - don''t want to go septic or anything. If the endo can clean it out properly then the 3 days of pain will be worth getting rid of the hell this tooth has put you through once and for all. A good endo makes all the difference. I can''t feel my RC at all anymore, after getting the permanent crown put on 1.5 weeks ago. Hang in there.

Nah no hiding under the bed for you my dear friend. I know you are terrified, for good reason. But if this what has to be done, get it done. He''ll give you pain meds to get you through the next days of pain. Anytime they mess with it it''s very painful but so worth get it fixed once and for all. Biggest hugs!!! I''ll be praying for you very hard at 1:00 tomorrow.

I don''t know the whole story but if you are having a root canal I don''t blame you for wanting to hide under the bed. I had one a long time ago, and oh, the pain!

Unbelievable. I will pray for you too; please pray for my Dad in return! He is having a colonoscopy tomorrow around the same time. He was in the hospital a few weeks ago, having lost quite a bit of blood, and they never found the source. He had a tumor removed from his colon a few years ago.

No, don''t hide. The problem won''t go away by hiding under the bed!

I am sorry that you are having to go through this but I think you will eventually get to the bottom of all of it and the tooth will be well and you will be pain free. No one likes to volunteer for any procedure that might cause pain but it really will be worth it in the end.

We''ll be thinking of you! Let us know how it went and how you are feeling tomorrow.

You can hide under the bed, but don''t do it until AFTER you''ve had your tooth seen to!

Poor Storm. I''ll be thinking happy tooth thoughts at you.

A former coworker, now deceased, once came back to the office after a dentist visit. We were having a meeting and he kept wincing. "You okay, Walter?" we asked. He shook his head and said, "Uneasy lies the tooth that wears the crown." I think of that & miss him whenever I visit the dentist...though I doubt he''d like to be remembered in connection to dentists!

I hope you have an easy time of it. I don''t much like dentistry, but I have periodontal issues and lost a molar to it.

Storm -- just want to show my support and cheer you on tomorrow. Dental procedures are never fun but without them you''d be in a whole world of hurt (worse than now, that is). I remember being terrified before my impacted wisdom teeth removal (all 4 at once) and also before my first-ever crown procedure. Just remember to be very vocal about pain management and make sure they dope you up right!

Do you know what is worse than having it done!!!!

Waiting to have it done!

I would rather get in there, and get it over with.

Sounds like he was pretty gentle with it. I hope this takes care of it. Take a pain pill before the Novacane wears off so you''ll be ahead of the pain. And be careful what you eat tonight!!!

Storm, I''m hoping all will be well when the Novocaine is all gone. (I don''t think it''s actually Novocaine anymore. I am sure we have dentists posting here, but with all the trouble Pricescopers are having with their teeth, they are probably reluctant to reveal themselves as dentists!!)

Storm, just saw this. As a veteran/victim of many dental procedures (and the subject of a dental journal article), I feel for you. Best of luck on a complication free recovery.

I hope all went well - but are you going to take some pain meds for the next few days? I sure would. Don''t even wanna know how the pain is for at least 3 days.
