Oooooooooooooo...Now I''m intrigued.

I wonder what that would look like with a dainty halo a la the first setting? Could be darn interesting. I don''t think I''ve ever seen just the center stone halo''d. I''ve seen all three halo''d (which is almost a little too blingy for me), but not just the center. Hmmmmmmmm. You''ve got me thinking!

ooohhh I LIKE jazmine''s idea!

And if you halo only the center stone, it will look a little like your second choice, tight?

That jublilee it truly scrumptious.

If I knew Photoshop better I''d mock up a picture for you.
Alas I am just a beginner....

You know- the ring really is amazing as it is.
But I can understand the urge for a change.

on an unrelated note- I was just watching Paula dean on the foodnetwork.
She certainly doesn''t deny herself unlimited bling.
I wish she would slow down so i can examine those gorgeous rings on both hands, not to mention her pendant and earrings.
You go, Paula!!!

Yeah, I wish I could Photoshop that idea together! I''m not very good at picturing that kind of stuff and need visual aids.

I think you''re right. It''d be kind of like the second setting, but with my stones instead of traps. I was actually wondering if I could do something like the first setting but with traps on the side? So many ideas.

BTW...any concerns with haloing a J stone? I guess I''d want melee in H or I or something? Just a thought...

I haven''t seen Paula Dean on foodnetwork, but all that bling sounds like my kind of recipe!

I wouldn''t have any concerns about halo-ing a J because they look so good face-up.
In fact, I''d guess a halo or bezel setting is the best way to go on a J.
After all you really only see color when looking at it from the side or the bottom.

I love your jubilee!
That might have to be my next diamond project.
I''d like to buy a small one and trade up over time.

Good point! My side stones are actually Gs, so I probably shouldn''t be too worried about matching halo color and such.

I love the Jubilee, too! Horowitz/Atlass has stopped cutting them, so they''re pretty hard to come by these days. My side stones are Square Hearts & Arrows and are great.

Hi kathy!

Yea ... come to think of it Jazmines idea is really the best. You have beautiful side stones to incorporate into the mix and it would be a shame not to use them. If you run into any complications having the 3 of them set into such a design we may be able to help. Good idea is to shop around and get ideas, also let Marie know your thoughts and she can investigate the possibilties for ya unless of course you prefer to have it done locally. We''re all here to help either way.

Good thinkin Jaz.

Warm regards,

Thanks, Rhino!

Marie was totally my hero in helping creating the 3-stone ring, so I know she''d go to bat for me for whatever I decide.

I''ll have to think on this new center halo with side stones idea. I haven''t been able to find any examples (save for the Beaudry rings, which I love, but might be a bit too elaborate for my lifestyle), and I''m just plain bad at imagining what it would look like.

Of course, another evil plan would be to halo the Jubilee and use the 3-stone setting with a sapphire as the center stone. Somebody stop me! I''m goin'' crazy!

Another ring with a sapphire center stone, yeah now we''re talking!
Do NOT EVEN expect me to be a voice of reason.
hee hee

Too bad the jubilees are no longer being cut.

Kathleen, I have to say that I big time ditto Jaz''s idea. You could halo the center and use the sides. Or you could pull the sides and make earrings out of them. Options and dilemmas.

I found this setting on jbstar. I don''t think I''d bezel-set the side stones like this, but it''s maybe a little food for thought. Whaddya think?

One thing I keep wondering is whether my current side stones would be too square if I halo''d the center. Seems like most of the stuff I''m come across (mostly Beaudry-esque) has half moon or traps when the center is halo''d. Hmmmmmmmmmm...

That too-much-of-a-good-thing is definitely a concern of mine. I want it to be dainty and pretty, but with enough "presence" to take up some finger real estate. Maybe I should make it a pinky ring! Then it''d look huge!

trust me--i did too much...........and my ring is pretty but i wish is was more of solitaire than a big "thing". i think your stone with a halo (my best friend has a .8 in a holo and it looks like a 2 carat on her hand) will be plenty substantial.......and the sides will make lovely earrings. as a matter of fact your ring as it is is very pretty but i think its kind of busy...........your center (magnificent BTW) is a little overwhelmed by the sides and the other stuff

My opinion is that it may be too much for an e-ring. But for a RHR, I definitely don''t think so. That''s where I would do as much bling as possible!

This is her RHR that she doesn''t want to look too "engagmenty."

See beginning of thread.

the whole concept of "too much" is purely subjective.

Again, I refer to Paula Dean on foodnetwork. That lady must be walking around with 10 carats on her body.
Huge rings on both hands, an amazing pendant and huge diamond earrings.

She pulls off a lot more than I could, that''s for sure.

I admire her and anyone who displays that sort of confidence.
I''m working on my own capacity for bling, beleive me!! I just love jewlery, diamonds, gems, etc.
But I know my limits and right now my 1.27 diamond-ring-to-be seems huge for me.

OK now I''m getting really philosophical - becaause I also admire a woman at work who is about my age and married to a very successful scientist. They have everything money can buy - but she still wears her .25 carat solitaire and wedding band that he proposed with 20 years ago.
On her right hand she''s got a HONKER of a sapphire with huge diamond sidestones.
She''s true to herself.................

So, just search your own aesthetic, find your comfort level (then expand just a bit!!)

happy shopping!

I wonder how would a jewelry shop made by the looks, tastes and choices of Pricescope look like? If there ever was a jeweler''s equivalent of the Tower of Babel...

Thanks, Ana for posting the Ritani settings. Those are beautiful. I find that I''m drawn to the halos sans bezel on the inside or milgraining. Ana, I think you call it "bright cutting"?? Not sure that style would be appropriate for a 3-stone situation, though. Might look unfinished? Dunno.

Okay, I''m off a bit to assemble an outdoor play set dealie for our son. I wish I''d had some sort of "no manual labor" prenup, or something!

... but I don''t have any pictures with precisely this type of pave and three stones... Recently, someone posted a Winston ring with a cushion made that way. However, aside a couple of designer collections (the Royal Asscher, Vera Wang...) I don''t know who does it! Aside Art of Platinum... And who knows? maybe others do it too but there is no trace of the style around this forum. Whiteflash wiped up a ring with the shank set this way, but making small halo settings is quite different. Icestore has a couple of solitaires made this way (LINK) - and I wonder if they would not make the ring with your stones or at least recommend the maker of these rings to you.
