Soooooooooooo...do y''all think a round stone in a cushion-y/square halo would have the illusion of being square-ish? Or would it look like a round stone in a cushion-y/square halo? (Not that there''s anything wrong with that, mind you!!)

I''m thinking of Art Nouveau''s Beaudry:
https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/old-round-diamond-in-new-beaudry-stilette-mounitng.25907/page-2

Such a beautiful ring. One of my faves, really. And I love the idea of the brilliance (and size) of a round with the appearance of a square.

Whaddya think? I''m just sort of scheming on a potential project.

what size is the center stone that you have in mind for the project?

how do you love pebbles ring? do you have anything set in it yet?

That would be beautiful!

There is at least one other person here who had set her RB (or was it a roundish cushion??) in an antique-style square head, and it looked incredible. I can''t for the life of me remember who it is. No doubt someone else here will, though.

I''m thinking that if I do go with my somewhat half-baked round/cushiony halo idea, I''d use a 1 carat-ish stone. I''ve definitely caught halo fever

Truth be told, I''m trying to decide if I should halo my Jubilee, or do this round/square halo thing. I love my Jubilee. I do. Really. But I wish it were a smidge bigger, and I kinda wonder if Horowitz/Atlass really will start cutting again so I could upgrade a tad. Thus my round idea (bigger spread, same performance and all that jazz.)

What do you guys think? Am I being totally crazy??

(I guess he doesn''t normally carrying Gottlieb & Sons.) If he can''t get it, I''ll just go through Quest. I plan to put a 1.25-1.35ish round in it. Buuuuuuuuuuuuut...that''s a few months off. I pounced on Pebbles'' setting because hubby finally gave the go-ahead on an e-ring upgrade.

I also have an RB in a cushion-shaped halo. Here is my original thread: Halo e-ring

I took some awesome close-up shots with my new digital camera, but I can''t figure out how to downsize them. When I finally figure it out, I will post them.

Thank you, Kathy!!

Mine is more of an octagon than Singer''s, which will give you a really good idea of what each would look like.

When I first saw this type setting, it had an asscher in it. But when I held my loose stone above the asscher, I knew it was ''the one''. (And my husband actually fell in love with it too!)

If your stone is loose try that... just hold it above all sorts of halos and when one ''grabs'' you - you''ll know it.

What fun for you!! I love setting shopping. Good luck, and make sure you share those pictures with us once it''s done.

PS - Singer - your ring is GORGEOUS!!

Mine is a round brilliant in a cushion type halo. Its does give the illusion of a squarish stone, then you look at it close-up and it's round, so it's kinda cool. Whatever you decide will be great. There are so many drool worthy rings here.

Last one... I wanted to post a straight-on shot of my ring, but this one didn''t turn out very well. I believe I took this one earlier in the day (before I cleaned my ring for its big debut

). Disregard my brown-colored fingernail. I dyed my hair and the tip of my plastic glove broke open during the process....lol.

Good night!

Jelly, thanks for the compliments! I am going to start my own thread tomorrow with new and improved (and more creative) pics. I took all of these so quickly. I want to take pictures of my ring next to flowers, my cats, etc. It''s cliche, I know, but it should be fun!

I just wanted to give a big shout-out to belle, whose resizing directions taught me how to do this. I have been messing with my new camera for about a week trying to figure out how to size them correctly in order to attach them....yippee, it''s finally working. Now I''m addicted and I can''t stop. Watch out!
