Renewed search for an OEC deal

After trying on a lot of different rings, I've changed my search parameters for a large OEC. My budget is max $17K (that's the absolute hard budget) for a 9.5mm+, K-L-M by GIA standards, eye-clean OEC. Is this even possible through the deal paths?

And if any of you deal gurus come across anything like this, I would really really appreciate if you could let me know! :D

Kim do you still have a DB listing so i can send you some links?

I think hitting 9.5mm is not really possible though, for that budget, unless you are willing to drop a lot in color or wait 10 years ;))

Yes, that one is really beautiful, and I'm certainly considering it. Thanks, Cluless!

I saw this one and thought I'd post it - don't know anything about the seller, but the feedback is good - stone looks pretty tinted in pics but I thought I'd post it just so you could check it out. The description mentions chips, not sure how visible they are. The return policy is good, 60 days. It's over your budget, but seller is accepting offers.

Thanks, junebug! I love the crown and size on that one. I contacted the seller, and he said it was not eye-clean. There is a visible feather in addition to the chips. It looks like a nice diamond otherwise.

Ah, ok! Dang - I'll be on the look-out for you Kim and post anything I come across; I've been browsing around a lot on the internet lately, even though I shouldn't be lol!

Yeah, I've seen a lot of stones that come so close to being right, except for one thing or another. Thanks again, junebug, I would very much appreciate if you could post anything you come across!

That 3.64 cannot possibly be an L. If I had balls, I'd be willing to bet them both. That diamond is at least an O-P, but I'm betting it has a brown tinge, which makes it look even darker.

FK, you're right. The 3.64 does look very tinted.

Thanks, ruby, that diamond looks beautiful! I'm considering it, but I think it may not face up large enough.

Thanks very much, Cluless, kelpie, and ruby! I'm going to look into those. I have not heard of that vendor either, Cluless, but I'll check them out. And I would definitely consider a transitional cut. Thanks for all your help!

Clueless, that designer sure has some things, but I noticed that the costs are not in American currency.. At the bottom, the web designer is from Scotland.

Thanks, ruby, I have been following that seller and inquiring about a few of their stones. The stone in the last link has a huge table (64%) and a very flat crown, so not a typical OEC.

That last one is a poorly cut RB.

I agree.

In my humble opinion, it is a waste of time to look for anything that has been on ebay for a long time. The only way you will get anything even close to what you want will be to watch evay daily and catch something you can BIN a low ball offer on, or something on auction. Most other things that have been languishing are doing so for a reason.

this one is 8.75 mm 2.64c I/J VS1 under $16000 61.7% depth which makes it face up nicely for a antique cut

On USAcerted there is an 2.74c EGL USA certed I SI1 OEC that the spread is 9.1x 9. and it is $17,400, I would have GOG call this one in for you. Jon has 2 he just called in for someone else. did you see the video.

Dreamer, very true, and that's what I'm going to do.

Thanks so much, Ariel. The first one is really lovely, and I have it in mind as a definite possibility. I'm just holding out a bit for something a little bigger diameter-wise. I'm going to consider the second one--it does look like it has potential. I did not see that new video of Jon's, so thanks! That K looks amazing. So far, though, I've found that going to any retail vendor will not get me the size I'm looking for in my budget. And obviously, even going through eBay is difficult.

Thanks, ariel and Cluless. The 2.74 picture does look nice, and you may be right that that's as large as my budget will allow me to go. I like the color a lot too. Cluless, rounds look much better on me than cushions, but thanks for the heads-up. I wouldn't mind going down to O-P if I had to.

Thanks, Cluless and jerichosmom. Cluless, that one actually looks more like an rb to me. The proportions are rb-like, and the lower girdle facets are not chunky. But it sure is huge! jerichosmom, that diamond looks beautiful. I'm going to keep it in mind in case I can't find anything bigger. By the way, I love your ring. The stone is gorgeous, and the setting is exquisite!
