My dad got me a brown Plymouth Duster.

I talked to my mother last night. I can now expand on my knowledge about Sweet Pea. She was a seven year old, blue, manual Ford that cost $1,200. She had no power windows, power locks, or A/C. I paid $500 toward her and my parents paid the rest. I had no clue how to drive her so my father taught me. I lived on campus and apparently my parents got tired of having to drive 90 minutes each way to pick me up for visits home so that''s why they put up the $700 plus the cost of insurance for the car. She was bought when I was 19 years old and got into an accident (not my fault!) about a year later. Poor Sweet Pea! I used the insurance money to buy a used 1995(?) Honda which is still around and my sister is currently learning how to drive a manual on. The cost to replace the clutch when she kills it will probably be worth more than the car is by now!

My DH''s first car, which we still have, was about five years old when he got it. His parents paid for it as part of his income and work related expenses since he worked for them and needed a car. He got it when he was 21. It''s cute and inexpensive to run, the perfect car for us.

I got a hand-me-down 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme convertible in hunter green with a black top and black interior. Note: I received the car in 2000 (when I was 17). It was basically an over-grown lawn mower. There was a fake dual exhaust (yes they made the car like that).

The top would get stuck down. The car would shake when you hit 50 mph. Oh, and it leaked when you went through drive-through car washes. Haha!

ETA: When my sister (two years my junior) turned 16 my parents quickly realized that perhaps a safer mode of transportation should be purchased. She got a brand new Saturn Vue, and I believe the Oldsmobile was sold (my parents didn't allow me to bring a car to college).

No way did I get a new car, and a good thing too cause I got in a wreck after 5 months! I got a 1987 Ford Escort brown hatchback with no radio (I had to put my boombox on the dashboard). It ran fine until I wrecked it! We still make fun of my dad for calling it "sharp"!

I got my license in 1998, and my parents gave me a 1992 Chevy Cavalier. Then they bought a brand new car when I was 19.

But I was a good kid. No tickets, or accidents! Although I''ll be the first to say I was a bit spoiled. I''m 25 now and just bought my first car all on my own!
