Purple Pink Sapphire

Here is my 2.42ct purple pink sapphire cushion that I plan on setting with the M colored cushion pair in a ring. The cut of the sapphire leaves alot to be desired, but the color of the sapphire is fabulous-a highly saturated bubble gum pink in some lighting and a gorgeous purple pink with lots of blue flashes on most lighting. It also has a really strange glowiness/sleepiness to it.

Thanks Chrono! The window does mostly close up on my hand-I don''t expect it to be too terrible once set

One thing I haven't decided is if I want to play the M color up or down---white or yellow gold for the sides. Am leaning towards white only because of all the blue in the sapphire and am thinking of purple sapphire melee.

Yes, it has crossed my mind several times I was told that with cushion cuts that I''d loss alot of weight-so haven''t decided if it worth it or not. Also, I purchased the sides because of the matching outline they had with the sapphire.

Does anyone know what type of impurities would make the sapphire have the odd blue glowiness???

cut be damned when you have a color like that..very very nice color on that sapp...I am not a big sapphire fan but i must say i do like that one a lot!!!!

That is a really nice color!

I will sometimes through cut under the bus (within reason) if I can get the color I want. The window isn''t overly large so should close up nicely

That will be a very pretty ring. I think some stones ( like this one ) can get away with not being perfectly cut when the color is really stunning.

I''ve got a sapphire with exactly the same colour way but for the life of me, I can''t photograph it - can you tell me how you managed to capture all of its colours please?

By the way, mine is set with 2 princess cuts as well and it looks gorgeous in w/gold. I can''t wait to see the finished project. How exciting. It''s going to be stunning and I ADORE your side stones.

I say white gold as well! I think with the really cool colors of the sapphire, you''d be fighting that with yellow accents.

I agree with the other posters...cut be darned when you have SUCH a beautiful saturated color and personality in a stone!!!
