This thread is for those in the know to list and explain all the ways that Trump's behavior is extremely out of line in a democracy.

Hopefully, it will lead to people having a better understanding and more actual knowledge of what is going on in our country, in spite of the unprecedented amount of propaganda and lies the current administration has invested in - before it's too late.

What have YOU noticed in the past four years that Trump does that is not normal and sets off, or should set off, warning bells?

Making money from his businesses while president. And on top of that, being actively involved in steering or attempting to steer, business to his properties.

Separating children from their parents and putting them into what meets the definition of concentration camps, where many died from mistreatment.

And now apparently putting them out of the country without any paper trail, alone and without any way to find their parents.

Having somewhere around two dozen credible accusations of sexual assault against him.

Openly sexually leering at his own daughter.

Attending parties with child sex trafficker Epstein and child prostitutes.

Saying " I wish her well" to deceased slimeball Epstein's helper. Seems to be a signal of "I've got your back if you've got mine." President Trump did not wish the abducted, sexually abused little girls well.

Sneering at our top scientists, falsely smearing their names and publicly setting them up as targets with his base to the point that highly esteemed Dr. Fauci, for one, requires security protection due to threats on his and his family's lives.

Telling the American people that Covid-19 was a "Democratic hoax" and other lies for months, leading to 165,000 and counting deaths and severe, long lasting damage to our economy, with much more to come.

Getting himself and anyone who came near him tested constantly at the same time.

Dismantling our institutions, replacing high level, qualified professionals with inept, easily controlled puppets.

Starting with placing his daughter Ivanka in the role of "Senior Advisor to the President." For those who don't know, it's typical fascist BS to hand high level, high paying jobs to family members (nepotism) rather than to those who have earned them. Normal presidents don't do that, especially not so blatantly and openly.

Having the attorney general interfere with Michael Cohen's release so he couldn't publish a book.

Edited to add: publish a book about Trump's wrongdoings.

Dismantling OUR United States Post Office with the sole and openly stated objective of voter suppression- which is a federal crime and a terrifying thing for anyone who sees through his obvious, thoroughly debunked lies about "voter fraud by mail."

Extreme, open corruption and criminality in his impeachment trial. Actually Running his own impeachment trial. Openly threatening senators not to vote against him. Not even allowing any witnesses at the trial. His criminal Republican senators even vowing ahead of time that they would not impeach him no matter what the actual validity of the charges was. Then publicly, repeatedly, dishonestly announcing that his "innocence" had been proven.

Demanding nonstop, obvious lies and propaganda to be disseminated on alleged news outlets like Fox "News." Degrading trust in the real news stations by repeatedly lying that THEY are the "fake news" channels. Creating confusion and division deliberately so as to get people to believe his lies and propaganda, on an unprecedented scale and right out in the open. Typical Fascist BS.

Watching mailboxes get taken away while he tries to dismantle the post office, which is definitely just a coincidence.

Being a birther. Mocking a disabled reporter. Calling women nasty. (What other president has ever done that?) Voting by mail wile try to sow doubts about the election when others vote by mail?

The daughter Ivanka comment, so far out of line I was taken aback.
The downplaying of Covid-19 when he said

When: Friday, February 7, and Wednesday, February 19

The claim: The coronavirus would weaken “when we get into April, in the warmer weather—
that has a very negative effect on that, and that type of a virus.”

The truth: It’s too early to tell if the virus’s spread will be dampened by warmer conditions. Respiratory viruses can be seasonal, but the World Health Organization says that the new coronavirus “can be transmitted in ALL AREAS, including areas with hot and humid weather.”

When: Thursday, February 27

The claim: The outbreak would be temporary: “It’s going to disappear. One day it’s like a miracle—it will disappear.”

The truth: Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, warned days later that he was concerned that “as the next week or two or three go by, we’re going to see a lot more community-related cases

When he made fun of the reporter with a disability

The BLEEDING comment about Megyn Kelly

About Mika Brzezinski

Recommending that a leader's summit be held at one of his resorts - using the presidency as a means to growing his business/brand. Having the taxpayer foot the bill for secret service golf carts - payable to Trump. Giving other people rude nicknames when they disagree on policy. Firing the employee who blew the whistle on his illegal activity quid pro quo with Ukraine. Calling a bunch of neo-nazis "fine people". Openly stating that mail-in voting should be disallowed - except in Florida. Starving the post office because he's afraid that mail-in voting will result in Biden being elected, and putting his good buddy and campaign contributor in charge of screwing up what was a working entity. Suggesting that the election be postponed....until the country recovers and his poll numbers go up. Suggesting that a disease which is killing people is a democratic hoax and it will just magically go away. Refusing to wear a mask in a pandemic and hosting large rallies....where people aren't wearing masks.

I mean, I could go on ad infinitum et nauseum.

The people who need to read these examples the most are also those who will do whatever mental gymnastics it takes to dismiss them.

They’ll thank you by calling you a bully, and say you refuse to let people have a different opinion without regard for the fact that those opinions are not based on the truth.

That is sometimes quite true, ugh!

However, when I think about it, I definitely recall changing my own position on issues before, after learning more (and after feeling a little foolish and angry because I had thought I understood in the first place when I really did not).

So I guess (hope) that enough others will do the same that we will be able to turn our country around in November. After all, even if they are on here arguing, they are still on here. So they will be hearing those other viewpoints, too. :)

Damn, you guys are good!!!!

You are correct @JPie . I’m waiting for the comments telling us we just don’t know what Trump meant when we have clearly heard and understand what he says. It’s exhausting.

LOL @Dancing Fire , To quote @smitcompton I want him gone gone gone from the White House.

Today was the first day I was able to muster any sympathy for Trump. I feel bad for him losing his brother. His brother was described as the opposite as Donald. He supposedly was a kind person. I feel badly for anyone losing a family member.

Getting huge crowds to chant "Lock her up!" about his political rival, Hillary Clinton.

Whoa. This is the leader of our country, the president, doing this. This is actually terrifying. This is the kind of dangerous crap that goes in banana republics, not respected, lawful, first world countries.

I’m afraid I don’t share your optimism. The kind of critical thinking you’re describing hasn’t been demonstrated by Trump supporters and apologists. I see many bad-faith arguments and a lot of martyrdom, but little self-reflection and intelligence.

Edited to Add: There’s a lot of criticism aimed at the non-Trump supporters here (I refuse to say liberals because this group includes true conservatives and moderates too) about it being an echo chamber, but that presupposes that the differing viewpoints are actually well-thought out and worthy of consideration. When I see posts about Democrats being hellbent on turning America into a socialist country or Roberts being a Commie traitor, I fail to see how entertaining those points of view are supposed to lead to meaningful conversations when the same people espousing the nonsense have either accused everyone else of being insulting, or just refused to acknowledge the counter-arguments. I would just as soon give serious consideration to a pedophile arguing that there should be no minimum age for consent, or a racist insisting that there’s a biological basis for white supremacy.

Well no... I wouldn't say I'm optimistic. :(

The name calling.
I am so sick of him doing this.
Crazy Bernie, Lyin' Ted, Little Marco, Crooked Hillary, etc, etc.
And now Slow Joe, and Phony Kamala.

It really shows what kind of person he is, and how he is a bully and has no respect for others. Even small children know that name calling is disrespectful.
He is a grown man, He should understand basic manners and behave like an adult.
I challenge anyone who supports him to dispute this.
