Hello all just had a call from JA unfortunately I missed it but got on webchat who informed me of the following

Lorraine: I was trying to reach you, I work with the gemologist and I came across your email with Tia since she is out today

[2:20:47 PM] Mike: Hi Lorraine I have just had a missed call off your customer servjce

 [2:20:53 PM] Lorraine: Yes :)

[2:21:35 PM] Mike: Ah ok did my email make sense?

[2:21:39 PM] Lorraine: I wanted to touch base with you because I see that you requested an inspection for the two marquise diamonds. I wanted to let you know that diamond530025 is actually with our partner who is not located within NY, so we cannot bring it in for the inspection

[2:22:02 PM] Lorraine: Yes and I do not think you have anything to worry about with the I color. The faceting and sparkle are amazing and the diamond will not look dark at all :)

[2:23:07 PM] Mike: Ah right so would you be able to look at the 400773?

[2:23:25 PM] Lorraine: Correct. I can tell you from the video that it is an excellent choice

[2:23:45 PM] Lorraine: The diamond is very alive as it rotates

[2:24:04 PM] Mike: Can I still have the asset? And my questions answered?

[2:24:46 PM] Lorraine: Yes we can do the ASET image for diamond400773

[2:25:06 PM] Mike: Just to confirm that is the vs2?

 [2:25:12 PM] Lorraine: Yes

[2:25:31 PM] Lorraine: This diamond is also on the regular color scale

[2:25:45 PM] Mike: Would your partner be able to do the aset on the other one?

[2:25:56 PM] Lorraine: No we are not able to offer an ASET for 530025.

[2:25:58 PM] Mike: What do you mean regular colour scale?

[2:26:36 PM] Lorraine: Diamonds come in a variety of fancy colors but the regular color scale D-Z is for yellow and brown shades

[2:26:54 PM] Lorraine: This diamond is a color grade I and the tint is yellow.

[2:27:09 PM] Lorraine: It will be very hard to see in person and set into a ring

[2:28:58 PM] Mike: Oh right I will feed back that to my friend who is assisting me with my purchase he has lots of knowledge on diamonds

[2:29:17 PM] Lorraine: Wonderful. So you would like to proceed with the ASET for diamond 400773?

 [2:29:37 PM] Mike: Yes please

[2:30:03 PM] Lorraine: Wonderful. It will take about 3-5 business days to get that information

[2:30:15 PM] Mike: Would the gemologist see the email so they can see my initial questions?

[2:30:34 PM] Lorraine: I will forward your inquiry to him

 [2:30:43 PM] Mike: Thanks

I had a feeling that might happen. You can kind of tell based on the 360 photography if a stone isnone that can or cannot get asets

Never the less, the only question we had on that I was the color, so them getting it in hand and having the gemologist comment on the color will still be done (and beneficial)

As for the V Prong/4-6 prong/ new head thing... What did they say about that?

I wonder if they sold it and that's why, as one diamond is unavailable the other says sold

No, its really just that they have one vendor in the US and one overseas and they won't ship the overseas ones to NY just for free asets. They'll do it if you're going to buy but not if its just an evaluation

Results are in......

Thank you for your patience while waiting for the ASET image and gemologist inspection for diamond 400773. This diamond is simply stunning! Please find the ASET image attached along with an interpretation guide.

I am happy to let you know that the gemologist indicated that this diamond has excellent brilliance, fire and sparkle! It faces up white and closer to an H in color. The light return is very well balance throughout the diamond. There is no presence of a bowtie. It has a uniform faceting pattern and a very attractive marquise shape! The VS2 inclusions are not visible allowing the diamond to be eye-clean. This diamond would be an excellent choice!

Neil I have asked about the claw but they haven't provided a price yet I was shocked that they needed to send it to a specialised team for a quote

Haha this was about to be my next question.

As for the stone, seems flawless to me (I knew it would lol) I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat.

Actually I think it's free, its just a charge if, say, you wanted to return it. But sense this is what she wants and your going overseas I don't foresee you returning it lol

Bah rats! I'd hate to pay more. Do they have any normal heads that would allow for V prongs to protect the tips?

So I'm not sure if the modification is worth the cost. I sent them the picture of the one you posted earlier in the thread . which from my novice eyes only had the v prongs?

I am not sure what you mean by normal head?

Sorry, by normal I meant a 6 prong head with V prongs at the tips. It's up to you. Would it be worth it to me? If its in budget, yeah. However, as someone who's obsessed with taking a million up close photos of my ring, the prongs are important to me. They may not be to her. In that case, if she's not a huge jewelry enthusiast, or I'd your pushing your budget. Then no.

I am a novice but have been reading this thread out of curiosity as I am researching for my own ring, I have found big prongs have grown to be very unappealing and don't look very refined. I would go for the v on the tips. Two weeks isn't long for something she will wear forever. I've been put off a lot of rings because of 'in your face' prongs, they detract from the diamond and the rest of the setting IMO.

It is interesting that once you really look at lot of settings, you notice things like that. If this is meant to be her forever setting, I might still do it.... I mean, your saving 10% on the setting, right? With the 150 extra it still keeps you under your 5600 max (if I remember correctly. )

But, again, if this isn't something she cares about, why pay for it. Maybe show her the two, see what she thinks?

Wow, that ASET is amazing! Too Cool! One of the best I've ever seen on a marquise....maybe THE best!

I would do a color blow up of that ASET and frame it to hang on my wall...it is a piece of art...LOL! (not kidding)

So excited for you!

Ditto...worth the wait on the V prong for MQ.

Worth the time wait on V prongs for the marquise. Not only does it look better, it protects the pointy tips better too.

This was my thought too... but if it prohibits you from buying the ring (out of budget), then maybe do a different head later on when you have some extra cash??

I'm so pumped about this ring, and it's not even mine!

Yes I have had the different head and the engagement date engraved. Just got the dreaded vat bill to come. Does all FedEx parcels get hit with it? I know I have had stuff in the past from China and places that has escaped it but can't remember if that's due to them using a false value on the declaration
