TP, any updates? Are both you and your DH gainfully employed? Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

Sorry to drop out of touch! Been crazy here settling into new routines.

I have been on a short contract (2 month) handing out new badges at the company DH used to work for. I am in training for permanent position delivering mail/packages for them. The pay is bad, but it is steady. When doing one, I am not allowed to use computer for anything and the other is all day walking (7-10 miles per day) so no computer possible.

DH got hired to a 6 month (extendable with option to hire permanent) contract for the other big software company. They are just opening offices in the area so he is,one of the first.

Our personal company is also doing contract work for another small company for a little added income and something to (hopefully) have a steady stream in case they don't keep him on after May.

Got forebearance on mortgage. Just have to arrange payments since we won't have ability to do 6 full months of payments on Feb 1.

Working hard to keep expenses down. Need to pay off debts and build savings again. Would like a bit of a buffer (as much as possible) in case contract not extended. (and, also as a good idea anyway -- we went 6 months half pay plus a full year no income!)

Things getting a little quieter. I had been going non stop from 5am to 11pm every day. Finally getting a bit more sleep and a few minutes to check in online. Looking forward to a little more time as things settle!

TP, I'm thrilled to hear things are looking up! Definitely still tough I'm sure, but at least better, and continuing to improve. Biggest hugs to you and DH and A.

Slowly climbing out of this mess. DH's first paycheck was messed up (never sent) then the 2nd showed up but paper instead of auto deposit. Fine. Then the first showed up but was supposed to have been canceled so we didn't deposit for a bit. Hoping his 3rd will deposit correctly!

My contract ended and there was a mess with the transfer so I had NO warning. Hauled into meeting with HR, mega manager, etc and told to hand my building access badge in. Escorted out and left standing in parking lot with no way home (we have only one car and it was in Seattle with DH while I was in Redmond...).

So, my new manager had me apply again. Speeding through stuff as quickly as possible. Should be getting back to work around Jan 4. Until then, I am brushing up old skills and adding new as I want to move on to something better as soon as possible.

That said, I am very happy to be here talking about such minor problems with paperwork. After the last 18 months, this is nothing and I feel truly blessed. I am hugely grateful to the people who helped us at our most difficult moments and was happy to be able to help another family in need today. It wasn't as much as I would have liked, but I know it was needed. I love helping others and cried on the way home because it has been so hard not being able to do stuff like this. The relief is huge!
