My brain is so drained from having a sweet adorable little baby depend on me 24/7... haha! But I am powering through and totally cramming and taking the exam tomorrow. Wish me luck! Has anyone else taken this test? How did you do? Was it easy-ish? Yikes! :)

So far I’ve only taken the Diamond Essentials course and test. I’m halfway through with Diamonds and Diamond Grading course. I’m nervous about that final since it covers 20 assignments. Which one are you taking?

Good luck @pearaffair ! You got this, but if you feel you need an extra little boost before your test, I suggest listening to a confidence-boosting song beforehand. I used to have “one hot momma” a click away that I’d play, then tackle whatever I was trying to do/accomplish, and I’d always achieve my goal or get what I wanted (one time it was right before a challenging job interview). I found it to be a good confidence boost when needed, but for this, as a PSer, I doubt you need it.

Oh yes I saw you were taking it! That's the one my exam is on. Omg I'll let you know how it goes! It's intense eh! There are flashcards online that I'm also using... Oh man I wish I had known sooner and we could've studied together! <3

Haha yeah 18 months just flies by! I started the course when I was VERY pregnant, and tired, and lazy... little did I know this course would get a whole lot harder as I got a whole lot more tired!! Thanks for the vote of confidence :)

Oh, so you’re testing on Diamonds and Diamond Grading? I know you’ll do great!! Please let me know if you have any tips for review before the final. I did the Diamond Essentials in one day and took the final that evening so everything was fresh. D&DG will take me about a month and so I know I’ll need to review before attempting the final.

Yes! And I left it to the last possible minute! My exam is tomorrow and I have to complete the course by September 12... hahaha. Oh man I always kept thinking my brain would have more power in the future, so I kept waiting and waiting. Little did I know that my brain will probably never recover it's pre-baby power! LOL!

I will definitely try my best to give you some insight into this exam. So far the big difference is that I had to get a proctor approved beforehand. I'm going to take the exam at the library. Easy peasy!

Totally understandable! Haha well hopefully I'm knowledgeable enough... we shall see! Thanks for the luck!

So you can’t take it online? Is it common to have to have a proctor?

The final exam has to be proctored, as far as I know. Or taken in person in a GIA campus. Proctors can be library staff or lawyers etc. There’s a whole info write up somewhere on the course site :)

So you can’t take it online? Is it common to have to have a proctor?

  • Your final exam will be administered in an online environment. You must have access to a computer and Internet connectivity during your exam.
  • Your final exam must be taken under the supervision of a proctor. You may schedule your exam at any GIA campus, or you may take the exam in a location convenient to you. You must make these arrangements, and your proposed proctor must be submitted to GIA for approval, prior to taking the exam.
  • A maximum of three examination attempts will be permitted.
  • The final consists of 100 questions or incomplete statements, each followed by four possible answers.
  • Your final exam must be completed within the two hour time limit or it will be rendered null and void. The timer starts once you begin taking the final.
  • Exams in progress may be declared null and void if a testing session has to be interrupted for any reason such as a fire, earthquake, technical difficulties, or loss of Internet connectivity.
  • Copying, scanning, photographing of exam questions and material by any electronic, digital, or physical means, at any time, is prohibited.
  • You must score a minimum of 75 percent on your final exam to successfully complete this course.
  • If your score is 75 percent or above, you will be congratulated on your success. If not, you will be permitted two additional attempts to achieve a passing grade after you submit the proper Proctor Request for each subsequent attempt. To submit a proctor request, you may scan and email the ‘Final Exam Request’ form located in the ‘Arranging to take the final exam’ PDF to: [redacted]. After a third unsuccessful attempt, please contact your instructor for further guidance.
  • Certificates and diplomas are not awarded until all financial obligations are met. All tuition accounts and miscellaneous student fees must be paid in full and any borrowed equipment and library books and materials must be returned in good condition before your certificate will be ordered.
  • You must successfully complete your final exam on or prior to your course end date.
  • Your online course will no longer be accessible after the end date; we suggest you print any course materials you’d like to keep prior to that date. These materials are for your future reference only and cannot be used during the exam.
  • During the final exam, you will need to refer to the D&DG Weight Estimation Formulas and Charts document below. It can remain open on screen while you are taking the exam, or you may print the eight-page document in advance and have it on hand during the two hour time frame.

--- btw, find me on louptroop (Ringmaven) if you'd like me to mail you my study cue cards :D
When do you hope to take your exam?

I just assumed it was like the first course so I’m very thankful to know this ahead of time. I am hoping to take it by the end of the month. I’ll find you over on LT for sure!

Best of luck and go kick some GIA test booty!!!
