Girdle percentages?

Typically when I search for diamonds the girdle reads thin, thick, slightly thick, etc. However, how are the girdle percentages calculated and translated into thin, thick, etc.

Though I find the Adamas/Marty Haske stuff a bit thick (and btw, I wonder why I don''t find him referenced under suggested appraisers here), this thread, and the two links referenced there should get you at least part way there.
