Could I add a halo to this setting somehow?

For my anniversary, I want to add a cushion halo to my engagement ring.
Based on my current setting, would it be possible to add it somehow, keeping the original band?
If so, what size diamonds would I want in the halo? My e-ring is 1.5.

I want to have an idea before I start going around to jewellers.

Any guesses to what ballpark I would be looking at?

No but you can call Quest Jewelers in VA. They have added halos to other rings. That said, I am thinking it would be more cost effective to get a new ring with a halo. What is your budget?

I haven't really thought of a budget. Under $1500 I guess.
I don't want any diamonds on the side, just the halo.

I wanted to give my husband am rough idea what he's looking at ;-)

I second Quest however I'm fairly certain you can't add a halo to a trellis setting. With a budget of $1500, you can get a new plain shank halo setting.

I just read in the last few days on one of the best ringmaker's sites that they never recommend doing this. It is always better to start with a new ring than to try to change the style of an existing one.
