Do you mq? You can get a stone that faces up big for your budget and do a simple halo or iluusion setting and make it look even bigger. What is your setting budget ?

Mq? I don't know what that means, sorry!

My budget for the setting is whatever it has to be, heh. If I need to save up for something deluxe, I will!

You don't like a three stone? I know you want the biggest stone, but you would get a bigger look with the .8x brown and side stones.

What is your finger size?

I'm totally open to a three stone. I think I will have to try some on today to find out :)

What is your finger size?

Also, she means do you like a marquise shape.::)

I'm open to marquise! But all things equal, I'd probably lean to a round over a marquise. I don't like the way colour can concentrate in the points.

Finger size: 4.5 or 5, depending on the thickness of the band. My hands swell up a lot.

so this is for about at 4.75...i used that .8x 1k round and then the round you liked to demonstrate the difference in size on the hand (and added the side stones you could afford if you went with the smaller round)

im sure its an approximate

how about something like this?

I thought you said you didn't mind warm, but I'd have to review the thread again to be sure.

there is also this

of course neither are round but will give you a lot of finger coverage for your money.

Wow, talk about a lot of bang for your buck!!! Too bad the B&M I went to didn't have any marquise or pears. I'll post the pics I took :)

My experience at the B&M was by at all what I expected! My faves were a solitaire round set in rose gold, and a super blingy anniversary band. And a five stone ring. I was very surprised! I'll post pics :)

The 3 stone stands out to me. It looks the best proportionally on your hand. Then I probably like the 5 stone but I think a graduated 5 stone would look better. I like the solitaire the least, surprisingly. Unless you're investing the 2K into the largest single stone possible with the idea to change it's setting, add side stones, or a blingy wedding ring later when you have more money to spend.

If this is a 1 and done thing, the 3 stone is the most attention grabbing. Balanced and noticeable.

I like the 3 stone too. You get the biggest bling that way! When I went for my first upgrade I put my .79 diamond in a 3 stone setting with 2 side stones at .30 each. I still love that ring and its blingy. I really like the idea Neil posted with the brown center diamond flanked by the 2 smaller bright stones. That ring would be really pretty and big! that's my vote!!!

Ha-ha I shouldn't type so early in the morning. I meant to say I like the first pic. So, the three stone is also my fav on your hand. Obviously though it's about what you like best :)

Not sure how your search is going but I just saw this:

http://www.loupetroop.com/listings/rings-natural-diamond-center/dot-93ctw-g-i1-modern-round-brilliant-diamond-ring

If you intend for this to be a temporary ring till you upgrade, and are alright with the cut and clarity, this might be worth looking into especially if you can sell it for around same price (no loss) when you intend to upgrade. But I'm don't buy jewelry from ebay since I don't know what to look out for so have no idea if this is the best in this price range. But I thought I will bring it to your attention.

I haven't responded yet due to being super busy but also because I can't make up my mind! It's such a big purchase for me, and I wouldn't be upgrading for 5-10 years minimum so I want to get it right. It concerns me that my preferences are all over the place. I think I need to narrow it down. Has anyone else run into this? How did you figure out what you wanted?

I think all the rings look lovely! Personally, I love the one earlier in the thread where the senter stone was actually 4 stones. Then, when you do an upgrade later, the ring will not actually change too much - but maybe that's just me because I'm Scandinavian and here we don't normally do upgrades  On a second note, 4 diamonds made to look like one is quite common here in Scandinavia, and I have seen a few rings made like this where the sparkle is quite amazing :) But then again I might be just a bit too Scandinavian :)
