The first three stone or the first beverly k?

actually both.

Well, both of those are easy for GOG to do. The three stone: the rounds I would go with 20-25 point stones and they can easily get H-I stones for you (You don't need certified stones in that size. Just tell them you want ideal cuts and verification by SARIN will be enough.)

And the first Beverly K is lovely and easy to order for your stone as they are a retailer.

Ok so looks like that GOG modern Cush in bev k setting will be about $1k less than the 3 stone quote from GOG....

Yep, side diamonds will generally cost more. Would you consider an asscher or antique cushion in the BK setting? Because I am not really loving the idea of a modern cushion in an antique setting.

Well, I like that modern cushion a lot and it will look fantastic in a vintage setting. A lot of people stick modern cuts in vintage settings, both RB and cushions. Even princesses. So I see no issue with the modern cushion in the beverly k. And on Beverly K's own page you'll see that have a bunch of modern cushions in their settings.

I think this is a great option. Extremely budget friendly. Has confirmed great light performance. That fact that it is a generic cushion makes it possible to get an I color over a carat in budget (which an AVC wouldn't allow).

Overall, I think it's a great choice.

Sidestones would be nice too, but it is more expensive.

Yes, I know they do it...I just think vintage style stone in vintage setting is more perfect aesthetically, but that is just my own personal opinion! I would never at this point put a MRB in an antique setting when I can put an OEC or AVR. But people obviously do it everyday. I'd put the modern cushion in a delicate halo just because I think it makes a modern cushion look better. But alas,I am not buying the ring!

Looks like GOG said that bev k setting doesn't come in 14k....too bad. One shown in link above was only $1k!

What price did GOG quote you for the 18K Beverly K mounting, travist? Greenwich Jewelers is showing it at $1325.

If GOG matches that & because unlike us New Yorkers, you don't have to pay sales taxes, your total would be $5404, if you wired the money for the diamond (and maybe less with a PriceScope discount? don't know how that's working right now). How does that total sound to you, I've lost track of what your target budget for the entire ring is.

There is one very different alternative you could consider, which I can enthusiastically recommend. Do like my then husband-to-be -- and everyone in our circle of friends & family has done -- propose without The Ring. And then shop for it, and the wedding bands, together. We all have had such a good time doing it that way; it's really a terrific, and romantic, experience to share as a couple!

You can ask them to price match that Greenwich price.

Or this price: http://www.elizabetajewelry.com/products/beverley-k-diamond-engagement-ring-semi-mount-center-stone-not-included-number-9227-slash-65 It's 18kt.

Here's another setting that's lovely: http://www.elizabetajewelry.com/products/beverley-k-diamond-engagement-ring-semi-mount-center-stone-not-included-number-tj023-slash-65sq

With the 18K mounting at $1190 (which I think is awesome), that makes the total $5274, closer to your preferred $5000 than your maximum of $6000. Care to share why you are hesitating?

P.S. Note that you cannot actually purchase that Beverly K mounting for $999; you have to buy the entire ring from Justice Jewelers. Odds are that their prices for a center stone of like quality are higher than GOG's, so the total package price would not actually end up being $191 less.

I plan on taking her somewhere this weekend to verify her size....I want to be sure before I order...she didn't seem very confident when I asked her before.

But I think I've reached a decision finally. Unless something drastic comes to light. Thanks, guys..

My advice is to buy the setting and the stone now. Have them hold off on the order for the setting till you get it sized. We have a lot of lurkers looking for good cushions and that's a nice one at a really good price point. So... before someone steals the march on you (which happens often) you should go for it.

If for any reason you change your mind in a week, they will return and refund you. :wavey:

Beverly K's settings are really lovely quality. I would happily own any of their settings and if I had funds for luxury items right now, I would happily own at least one, if not two of their rings. I really love the one you are thinking of buying, it is one of my favorites.

These are other ones I like, but I don't know the price of them.

You can ask GOG for pricing if you like any of them. :) :wavey:

I think you are making smart choices.

And I can't wait till you have pictures of the final ring to share with us (you WILL share, right?)!

Absolutely I'll share...but it might be awhile. I'd like to have it on her finger before I put it out for public consumption ;-)

It does have a depth of 70 percent and that's reflected in the price. But it still faces up at 5.5x5.86 which is good spread for a rectangular one carat cushion. I think it's fine. Plus the light return is edge to edge which will maximize it's appearance of size.

I am at the beach but wanted to stop in to say I am so happy you finally found your ring, Travis! I answered your proposal location briefly as well. I do hope you will return to show us pictures on the Show me the Bling forum after you propose!

Oh, and I am glad you went with 18k for an engagement ring.
