I was wondering if a ring with an Arthritic Band can be sized up the same as a regular band?

I had the term wrong. Its actually called an Arthritic Shank. The shank of the ring is hinged and opens for people who have small fingers but big knuckels I believe. Here is a pic.

I had a thread on this topic not too long ago. I don''t know how to cut and past the threads from one to another. You may want to do a search using the words "knuckle" or "hinged shank" or Superfit, Superringfit, or Fingermate. The last three words are alll different companies that sell shanks that open and close. There are different opinions as to the safety and reliabiliity of these products so do your homework before purchasing. Some are costly and I do not think that they are meant to last a lifetime, they require regular safety checks and maintenance. Good luck, Chelsea

thanks for the responses ladies...I was asking cuz a 1950''s sapphire and diamond ring I fell for has this type of shank and I thiught it would need to be sized up...but it doesnt.

it is a 4mm sapphire and the diamonds equal .25ct if I remember correctly. And I also am waiting on this little pretty too. Its a 5mmX9mm marquis blue/purple sapphire, also vintage w/ .25ct of diamonds

last one...both are 14kt white gold but only the round has the arthritic shank. the marquis is a normal band. and I got both rings for a total of $350...which is a good deal JUST for those mountings...I think anyway lol.
