I don''t have a design totally nailed down yet but it''s not going to be just a 3 stone ring in a basket setting, there will be some other design elements involved (what those design elements will be, I don''t quite know yet.) My thoughts for this ring were that I didn''t want an all angular asscher ring; there had to be some curve to it. On the other hand, I didn''t want a ring so organic and curvy that the angles of the asscher just looked awkward. That being said, my design dilemma for the moment: traps or half-moons. Thoughts?

And here are the stones shrunk down to a more RL size.

Traps by a huge margin because of the angularity of the step cut. The half moons look like monkey ears on the asscher.

Very true and gave me a chuckle. Love the traps. Have you considered trilliants? I''m setting me yellow diamond asscher with trills.

I see what you guys are saying about the half moons but keep in mind that the setting isn''t going to be as flat the picture of the loose gems so the monkey ears visual shouldn''t be that prominent.

I definitely do not want trillons as I do not want this ring to be all angular.

If you can avoid a monkey head it could work, but I still like traps better

I immediately liked the traps, especially in the minimized pictures.

Even "angled" a bit like it would be on your finger, they would still look like monkey ears to me. I love the look of the traps, though!

I vote traps also. The shape of the half moons is too disparate compared to the angularity of the asscher.

LOVE the fat pear idea - looks curvy but not disjointed from the asscher.

Traps. The angular shapes all go together.

Add me to the traps list! They compliment the angular asscher much better than the curvy half-moons.

Traps, or narrower step cut half moons. That way you''d have the organic feel while complementing the cut of the asscher.

I agree, traps look more proportionate with the size and shape of the step cut.

A great suggestion. I think the angular nature of the asscher is still true with this combination

another vote for the traps. If you don''t want too many steps, do the brilliant cut trapezoids for the contrast.
