It started with loom bands and me making loom toys that disintegrated pretty quickly much to my dismay. Then I realized....I could crochet!!!!! And so I fell down a rabbit hole crocheting anything that takes my fancy!

I'm hoping others can share their creations too whether it be paintings or home made jewelry or pottery!

I'm going to start off with a few of my recent creations.

Resa wove for many years. She made simple scarves that we have given to friends, and some baby blankets that are soft as can be and took about 200 to 300 hours to die the material, wind the warp and then actually weave at only a couple of inches an hour because of the tiny diameter of the material she was using.

She gave up weaving a couple of years ago and sold her loom and other weaving accoutrements. I wish I had some photos to share, but I do not.

They are gorgouse
I used to crochet teddy bears but my fingers hurt now
Crochet is so much more forgiving than knitting
I learnt to crochet at primary school in clubs
I can still smell the hand cream of the mother who taught me
About 20 years ago i went to a class so i could learn to read a pattern
Did you know UK and US crochet is different in that a double is a triple etc
(I think ??- its been awhile) but kind of how some call the first floor a ground floor and some call the first floor the next floor up

I used to make little booties for new babies but it actually takes quite a lot of time, effort and love to make a bootie and most people just don't appreciate the effort it takes
I now feel a bit guilty for not loving the dollies mum sewed us enough- poor old Polly Flinders - where are you now ?

I crochet.
Started off as a granny square and I just kept going.
And going and going around and around.
Then I found out what the world record size is and….. hopefully by the end of this winter.

Wow !
Just wow !
That's besutiful !

I know how much work goes into those things
Many years ago i made a blanket of diamonds ( they were called baby blocks) of 3 colours
It was a gift for my cousin's baby - the first great grandchild in mum's family
I desided to make it to fit a single bed

We didn't have a single bed so i took it up to my MIL's and she helped me work out how to finish the edges and make it look pretty

I was finishing it in summer
It was so hot !

I made it in acrylic as my cousin was like me and was allergic to wool plus acrylic washes eaiser

I made a cat sized one with the leftovers for Tinky also using some wool of MIL's after she passed away
I must look it out tomorrow
I think its come undone and is waiting for me to sew it back up
Winter is coming and we have the stray/wild cat who has finally moved into the laundry, im sure he'd appreate its warm this winter

I used to love knitting and made all sorts of baby clothes for my own and friends children. A few blankets too. My daughters favourite toy is “Bun Bun” who I made when I was pregnant. Unfortunately I have the beginnings of arthritis in my fingers and my right forefinger is the worst because if all the knitting. It’s too uncomfortable for me to knit now.

I do like to do arts and crafts with the kids though. And we did a lot during lock down.

I love to change my decorations for each season. I was thinking about summer, and decided to make a seashell bouquet. I'm not sure if I like the shells in the bottom of the vase, but it's a start.

great idea! But I agree that the shells in the bottom of the vase may take away from your pretty "bouquet". Maybe fill the vase with sand or tiny seashells or pebbles?

I've been taking some pottery sculpture classes lately. So I decided to make a little Bistro set for my fox squirrels. I'm going to hang the sign above the table. The little black and white squirrel at the bottom of the table is "Bogie"- one of the squirrels who frequent my yard daily. IMG_2418.JPG

I just finished piecing this runner that will go on the foot of our bed after I machine quilt it.

39347D23-5E91-42D9-9016-53F0E86862C0.jpeg

It will sort of echo the colors in queen-sized bed quilt that’s also nearing completion. The top was pieced, sporadically, over about a period of 15 years or so. One more decision to make about the finished size, then I’ll find a professional to quilt it with a long-arm quilter. The quilt top was completed over six years ago - LOL!

Off-topic, but here’s my hubby playing around with squares left over from the bed runner. I challenged him to create a pillow top for me to sew together. He’s taking the challenge quite seriously!

My mom who is an accomplished homemaker has tons of crafts, she sews, quilts, crochets, knits, paints, writes Chinese calligraphy and makes silk flowers and loved making necklaces (beading). Unfortunately, I did not inherit any of these talents. I have to say though, that I am an accomplished glue-gunner. I can make some pretty cool costumes or holiday sweaters with a glue gun and some felt! 5A809FCF-72F1-4ED3-9423-D39BEDBBAE48.jpeg F439E8C3-729B-406D-B685-2866862BAFE8.jpeg

My one and only and never trying it again painting created at my weekly lunch with friends last week and after consuming several large goblets of Bordeaux. Next week, I'm trying the acrylic pour technique since there's no skill involved since the result is an abstract work. Screen Shot 2022-05-27 at 10.36.39 AM.png

DS randomly decided to put up a fishing rod a la McElligot's Pool so I played along and made him this little guy. Then I snuck in at 3am and attached it to his rod.

He was so thrilled. He said: See Mummy you have to have faith like the little boy in that book!

Lunar Animal number 7! I'll get there one day!

PXL_20220728_125843118.PORTRAIT.jpg

Your creations are INCREDIBLE!!! How long does it take you? My mom taught us how to crochet when my sister/I were young. And then I didn't crochet for years (life got busy - school, work, etc). I crocheted a few crafty things a few years ago -- it's like riding a bike -- I picked it up right away. BUT crocheting these animals is not easy (at least not for me). I am VERY impressed and I love seeing your creations -- thanks!

Aww thank you so much!!!

It usually takes me 1-2 weeks depending on how much time I have to spend on them at night.

Sewing is my weakness! I love the actual crocheting and do it really fast but sometimes the pieces sit for a few days while I gather up the courage to assemble them!

If there's anything you want to make just tell me and I'll dig up the link for the pattern. They're all free patterns from the web or Instagram. I'm definitely not good though to create the actual patterns!
