Yes, Cfluist, I actually asked for it that way. Although Quest said it would not be any problem having only 3 prongs, I have a fear of looking down and the diamond being gone! The prongs are so tiny (to the naked eye), that I don''t think the 5 prongs is distracting at all. I wasn''t sure I''d like the point not being covered with the traditional "V" tip (fear again), but they assured me that with the halo setting around it, the diamond and its tip is protected and I really did not need a "V".Bagpuss, the pear shape is so perfect for a pendant. I love, love, love it!!! ![]() DiamondLil |

Oh, FireGodess - that's a beautiful setting not to mention a beautiful centre stone. The fine band really makes the pear look huge. Some halo pave can be so big that it overpowers the centre stone, but yours looks just right to my mind - big enough to look like 'proper' diamonds and not just chips, but small enough to be a perfect frame.
I also like the size and positioning of the prongs holding the pear. I also like the way it looks with the matching band - it doesn't overpwer the look of the original ring but rather enhances it.Can you tell how much I like it??? ![]() Is there a thread about it somewhere? I'd love to see a side profile. Pretty please. |

Bagpuss,
Thanks for your sweet post! I''m glad you like it and I definitely agree about the size of the melee...I tried to emphasize to the jeweler that I wanted the stones to enhance the pear, not overpower it...yet still look distinct. The thread on it is here. I just gave the e-ring back to get tweaked (the pear was set tilted) and when I get it back I want to try my hand at some different photos.

Thanks for all the sweet compliments. I just have to say that all of the pears on this thread are just beautiful. Ok here are the specs
1.38 K or M (one AGS appraiser appraised it as an M and another AGS as a K) I2 culet is small girdle thick to slightly thick faceted polish good symmetry good I forgot the measurements the baguettes are .08 and of "quality2" based on the AGS grading I was really dissapointed with the specs when I first got the appraisal back, but I love the ring and my fiance still feels he got a great deal on the ring Now that I got my hands onn a camera, I''ve gone nuts. Here are some more pictures

What a cute chunky pear! LOVE the shape! Do you know what the l to w ratio is for it? I think the ring is wonderful...I am NOT a baguette person (just don't like 'em!) but I have to say, they look really good as sidestones for the pear.
Don't get hung up on the appraisal/specs - the point is, did you love your ring beforehand? Of course! Is it the same beautiful stone as before? Yes! When I found PS and plugged all the numbers into cut calculators and whatnot, they were all over the board...it's just different for fancy stones. I've got a pear I adore and it sparkles it's heart out, and I love to look at it! It sounds like you do too, and that's what matters! Can I say again how much I like the design of the ring with the baguette sidestones? Seriously!!!! |
