Yes you can get cheaper earrings at White Flash for about $650.00 and Blue Nile $600.00 both are .50 carat probably just as beautiful or more beautiful.

Cath...Thanks for pointing out that I should be watching diameters..and could get away with less carat weight but keep the same diameters. Good thinking. I will keep looking.

I''m willing to go to the I color for ideal diamonds assuming they will face up very white and be very sparkly. I''m open on clarity as long as they don''t look really bad. I''d like the 3 prong martini style setting. Budget...as little as possible of course...but maybe around $2K. They need to be big enough & better cut to make a pretty decent difference from my current .5 TCW I (from maul store) earrings I have now.

Do you think I would notice a difference between G and I colored when set in martini style white gold earrings?

Well... WF sells pre-set earrings reading 1ct total, I, SI1, 5.2mm... $2100 (link). Seems to match. If the stones are as nice as their "expert selection" there isn''t much room for error. And even then, there''s always the return policy.

Threre are a couple of darlings at GoodOldGold as well, just not quite the right size (about 0.7 total). If you like their selection, perhaps the right I/SI pair could be found. The two bits below look good enough to eat!

Cath

Thanks for the tips and great diamond links. I went to the maul stores this weekend to get an idea of size to make sure I was thinking the right thing. I was actually surprised to find out that 1 carat TW looked a little too big for every day wear...somewhere around .75 to .85 would be perfect. I like the Whiteflash pair you sent too. In the process of looking my fiance kind of got pretty unhappy and told me not to buy earrings right now...so I''m going to send him your Whiteflash links and maybe he''ll let me know why he was unhappy soon :)

Following on from the earlier link to WF,

They have a pair of ES diamonds twc or .7 for $1.1K (I SI1) and .8 $1.4K (I SI1) puts them well under the $2K budget.

Prices are for platinum 4 prong baskets.

But a point to note, i asked, and they where able to supply mine (.25tw G VS) in a 3 prong martini setting for the same price.

will beable to get pictures when the package arrives in the next day or so.

tho will have to be sneaky - they are a suprise present for a night out next week.

LordSummerside...thanks for the tip because I definitely want the earrings in the martini setting rather than basket!
