Will a steamer loosen stones

I have a shared prong ring and was wondering if using the Jewel Steam Cleaner will loosen the stones over time. I recall someone saying they wouldn''t loosen a stone but then someone else said that their jeweler commented that a loose stone will usually appear after steaming...so I''m a bit confused. Anyone know? Thanks.

the steamer itself is not going to loosen the stones, but it will clean out the grime that may be keeping an otherwise loose stone 'stuck' in place
