The people who we buy the diamond from (Whiteflash) or the people who we buy the setting from (Signed Pieces)? My boyfriend asked me to ask people on here what usually works best, since I''m guessing that either company would be willing to do it.

I would have SP send the setting to WF and have WF set the stone. Will SP take responsibilty if anything happens to the stone while they are setting it?

Thanks for the feedback mrssalvo! I just noticed on the WF website that they charge to have diamonds set in a non-WF setting. Does anyone know the cost of this? Thanks!

Peony you should ask WhiteFlash the cost...they''d be able to best advise you.

This Q has been asked before as well, I know I have seen others ask the same thing..try the archive for old threads.

My opinion is that the stone is more valuable so I''d have the stone set by the people you buy it from, whereas a setter may not want to take responsibility for damaging the stone. Hard to say.

Here are just a handful of related threads I found by simply typing in 'set stone' into the search tool:

Gotta love the search tool.

Thanks, Mara! I guess the search terms I had been using were far too specific (i.e. setting a whiteflash diamond)!

In my experience, Signed Pieces will not set the stone for you. That is the reason that we did not buy our setting from them although we were in love with it. They were very nice when we were inquiring, though.

I also found it incredibly difficult to find someone independant locally to set the stone for us. We had a disaster when our stone was set. I wouldn''t mess around with a third party.

I trust Whiteflash and would definitely pay to have them set your stone.

Just my .02

Bob at WF told me it would cost $50 to set my diamond a few weeks ago when he started on my setting. WF is making my setting custom, but the diamond is not theirs.
