Here are the 2 diamonds i am looking at:
http://www.goodoldgold.com/0_70ct_g_vs1_h%26a.htm
http://www.goodoldgold.com/0_82ct_g_vs2_h%26a.htm

.70 scores 1.1 HCA with all excellent except for spread.
.82 scores 1.4 HCA with all excellent except for spread and scintillation.

according to the b-scope readings for each stone the .70 has white light vh, color light pegged and scintillation is on the line for H,VH

the .82 is VH for all 3 with color light being pegged.

Why does the HCA say the scintillation will be less for the .82 vs .7 but is the other way around? Also why is the .82 fairly bigger and only cost a bit more.

thanks

The hca is a rejection tool use it to reject diamonds then look at the rest of the information to determine if its worth buying.
The b-scope isnt the final word on diamond performance but in this case its what Id go by over the hca.
The hca has done its job and passed both diamonds now move on to the rest of the data.

pricing:
clarity costs money but once you get eyeclean its to me anyway better to put the money in other things like size.
Both of those are eyeclean.

As far as cut goes both are great examples of GOG classics and Id be happy with either one.
If It was me id snag the bigger one. :}
Its not that much more and its a noticable size increase.

Check the sarin data for both including the minors.
Cut in that range with gia certs == GOG classics.
They run 3vh to vh/vh/h on the b-scope and 4.6+ on isee2.
They are cut to one of Jon''s favorite combos.
He has simular ones with ags certs that are cut by a different cutter to close to the same specs that are the GOG classics #2.
Then he has other diamonds cut with different personalities.
Checking the cert, sarin, b-scope, lightscope and seperating them by who cut them is great fun.

I''m a size girl. The difference in size will be noticeable.

You''re not going to see much of a visual diff between the two HCA scores, so my suggestion would also be to go with the one that *does* provide a visual difference: the bigger one!

it''s a no-question choice for me... 0.82ct all the way! that thing is gonna look larger than most 1ct e-rings you''ll find at zales!
