Chrono - I''ve always loved your ring, and it''s a JW Asscher, so it''s incredibly special, IMO.

Do you wear it often? Have you had any problems with so much of the stone being exposed?
Lauren,
Thanks for the compliment. You’ve made me smile at the end of a long work day. I wear the ring mainly to work or out on weekends only; it gets removed once I am home. I’ve not had any problems except for the stone being a little loose once which the jeweller fixed it for me right away. No damage (yet). I haven''t banged it either because I''ve been extra careful.
You''re welcome.

There''s a Daniel K pave setting with a similar top view, and I''ve always loved it. I have to be honest though, I totally prefer your simple fluid metal version. Perfect with that awesome Asscher.

LOL - not quite sure why I found this so funny - but Gypsy''s killing me by posting that PSed setting.

Gypsy is being a little devilish by posting that. There are many threads explaining why none of us has bought that setting...yet. Although, I seem to remember now that one PS''er actually does have it, but I can''t remember her name.

Oh, I know. I have spoken with Ms. Gypsy at length while going through my quoting process.

I think the one person who has a baguette setting has prongs . . . ugh, can't remember her name off the top of my head, though.

I'll just have to end the custom-quote-process suffering and pony up ~$30k.

I’m sorry, Kismet, I don’t have the profile picture of the Taffin ring. But I do have a profile shot of my ring.

Beautiful! But set waaay too high for me; I''m too klutzy for a setting like that.

Ah yes, I recall seeing the Daniel K pave setting on Pearlmans with a very unusual folded design in the profile view. It is too fancy for me but still gorgeous nonetheless.

Kismet,
I’m a total klutz myself and thought it was too high initially, but the overall height is actually lower than my OMC RHR and even my spessartite ring. I think my jeweller could certainly have lowered the entire “head” as well since I’m guessing there is at least a 1 mm airline at the bottom of the ring. The problem with trying to set asschers is that this is a deep cut to begin with, and with coloured gemstones being naturally deeper than diamonds, it adds to making an asscher gemstone an incredibly deep stone, usually requiring a custom setting or customizing an existing setting.

I may have been a bit impish in posting that. For the record though... that setting looks incredible with a colored stone center, I''ve seen quite a few and they are breath taking.

I like the Taffin ring. And plain metal, no pave to showcase that stone.
