What shape is my diamond?

My future mother in law has been kind enough to give my future fiance and I a center stone that is a family heirloom. The stone is about 30-40 yeras old. She says that when she bought it they called it an oval. But to me -- and to the jeweller that we took it to to create our ring (Leon Mege) it appears to be more of a cushion. He said that it is an oval but with squared corners. I do not have any pictures to post unfortunately but I was wondering if anyone has heard of this and/or has any thoughts?? Thank you!

absolutely---many cushions look like fat (slightly lumpy) ovals......................Leon would know too.............
