Hi everyone,

Love this website. Long-time lurker here. I have a diamond (pic attached) and I''m not sure about the circled areas..hopefully the attachment will work...*fingers crossed*.

Do you think the diamond is cracked?? I''ve looke at it..or at least tried to look at it under 125x to 200x (I''m an engineer and we have expensive microscope just lounging around) and it looks like it''s ok..of course I can''t tell what''s happening at the prongs.

thanks in advance
RA

Hard to tell but it looks like an inclusion reflection to me.
Can you post the clarity plot from the cert?

hmmmm...it''s GIA and I would have to bring it in to scan it....it''s a VS1 diamond and i haven''t been able to find the inclusion. You think that''s what it is? I''ll scan it in as soon as I can...

thanks for the response strmrdr.

I would be unusual for a vs1 inclusion to reflect like that but Iv seen it in one diamond so it happens.
It could also be polishing compound that is
on it.
It can be very hard sometimes to get it all off.

Do you think it could be something to do with the prongs and the how it''s close to the arrow tips? I wish the setter could have set the stone where the arrow tips were not close to the prongs.

hmmmm...but do you think it''s a cracked diamond? ouch.

Thanks again strmrdr.

no I dont think its cracked.
no i dont think the loacation of the prongs has anything to do with it either.
But like my sig says im no expert and dont claim to be one.
For your peace of mind you might want to have an independant appraiser look at it.
You likely need an appraisal for insurance anyway.

Could you give some specs on the stone? Is it branded? When you say cracked, what do you mean. A feather is technically a crack.
