Just curious, as I saw another post (on another board) who said they just got their "ring polished and prongs tightend".
So I assume a jeweler first would check to see if the stone is secure, doesn''t have any movement in the setting. If it doesn''t - is there any "tightening" to be done? Or is that just a check.
Secondly - if the stone happens to be a bit loose for whatever reason.. how are the prongs actually worked so that they are "tight" against the stone again? Is the offending prong identified, pulled away and re-fitted? What happens?
Various "maul" stores were charging $15 - $60 for this service (according to other poster). Is the $60 just for a "check" or is there a process to tighen any ring...
Just curious if anyone knows..
