Also, had you considered a trillion. if you could get a 50point trillion you could bezel it sideways and it would looks so different and pretty.

go over to the preloved section see if you can get a cheap setting off of it. "WTB simple solitaire 100$" or something

A trillion is so severe to me that I'd rather get a heart. I know my husband would hate it too and say it's something from an alien movie hahaha I'm not too worried about the setting as I am about the diamond. It's like pulling teeth. The best one GOG quoted me for is over $1000 and is a G color I1 so my choice is better I'm sure at half that price. Honestly I'd rather have a gold setting and a so so diamond than the opposite. I can find a cheap setting elsewhere if anything. They have some on Ebay all the time. Ever since I had a diamond set at a local jeweler and cracked I'd much rather have the diamond already be set and not have to worry about hassle with jewelers especially with 2 young children I'd have to take with me back and forth, etc.

Thank you everyone for all your help! I might have to judge it in person because I will be the only one wearing it... and if it doesn't work out keep going from there!

Don't stress out too much about this. If all your current options aren't going to make you happy, maybe wait a few months, save up some more money and start your search anew.

Its a mobile link. Try just searching by the specs.

It says not available and it's not on their site so it looks like it's on hold.

I think it is a more attractive cut than your F.

It looks like it is available... just the GIA report, link is dead. You have to email/chat with them to access it, it is not on the main site. The diamond ID is 1503749, a .58 ct G I1.

I have been where you are. I too wanted something much more than I could realistically afford when I got engaged. What I wish I had done at the time was to just get the *best* diamond I could at the size I could afford at the time, and enjoy it for what it was, knowing at some point in the future I could get something different. I would not even worry about an upgrade policy because you can always repurpose your diamond into a pendant or earrings or anything else when you do get the ring you want later on.

So, for $1000 I would personally buy the sparkliest sparkle monster I-J color SI1-SI2 round brilliant and just love the crap out of it for what it is.

Whenever I have tried to stretch my budget too much, I have regretted it -- I ended up with something that still was not exactly what I wanted in size but also was not really attractive at the size it was :blackeye:

I was having a look thru this dbl for myself and saw a couple a couple of things that I wanted to share with you. Neither are what you were actually asking about but might give you something to think about.

First is a 0.51ct J SI2 radiant that is supposidly eye clean and faces up nicely. Its right at the top of your budget but its possible if you like it dbl would make you a simple setting for a couple of hundred dollars.

Second is a 0.34ct M SI1 Daussi heart shaped diamond pre set ito a very sparkly halo so it looks much larger. But its $250 over budget.

Your I1 looks fine, nice color. Make sure it's not cloudy from the inclusions. If I were spending $1,000, I would go to an Estate Sale or someplace that sells used rings. That way you could save by getting it already set. Pawn shops sometimes have good finds too. Buying new will eat up your entire budget, and you won't get much bang for your buck.

Here is a rectangular cushion:

Best if you can find a shallow one so it faces up larger for your $$.

this chunky faceted very elongated .43c D VS1 faces up the largest...it is gorgeous but probably a bit over budget. Tempting to bust the budget over though.

That last one is GORGEOUS! I'm not sure if I love that look over the radiant. I'm not actually a fan of cushions but I love that one! Thank you :)

LOL Good cut cushion vs excellent cut radiant?... and isn't radiant better at hiding flaws? Will the cushion faceted that way give me the sparkle factor I want? It's a tough call without seeing the radiant in person ?? Is it worth the price difference just for specs nobody might not even notice?

That cushion is cut very similar to the way a radient might be, just a tad bit more rounded. And with the prongs at the corners they will get more squared like you want.

I'd pull it up and compare the two next to each other

I googled some images of rectangular cushions.. and looked at this...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtASEx9Whpg

I love the look of those large facets in the cushion but overall I seem to be drawn to a more defined rectangular shape that's not so rounded. My gut says stick to radiant.

@chel180: That radiant is lovely but too narrow for my thicker fingers.
