What do you do when you see a dog left in the car in the heat?

I See it all the time. What is the point of dragging your dog along, left to sit in a car while you run errands? (assuming)

This site has printable flyers you can leave on the windshield or door if you see it but are in a rush, dont want to call police, to put in your window to remind folks etc..

I don''t see why you''d take your dog to run errands... but I think these things can happen when say you pick your dog up from the groomers / vet / day care... and you decide to stop and buy groceries on the way home. My couple of minutes in 7-11 story for example stems from those situations. I''m not sure why anyone else does it per se.... just a guess.

Having managed a vet hospital for seven years, I''ve known wonderful and lovely people to accidentally leave their pets in their cars to varying degrees of injury to the pet. One gentleman''s dog died in a horrifically awful way because he didn''t know the dog jumped in the back of his SUV while he was loading things into the back seat at his home business. His yellow lab laid down in the back, fell asleep and was obscured by the back seat while the man went about his business. Needless to say, he was demolished by what happen and I guarantee that he would''ve be eternally grateful to anyone who had noticed his dog and alerted him or the police. That man carries a serious amount of guilt around.

It terrifies me to think of stuff like this happening (and that''s with dogs...with kids...well, let''s just say I''m looking up my non-emergency police number and programming it in, just in case). My cat is my baby, I can''t imagine people intentionally leaving their dogs in cars. You really might think it''ll only be a minute, but you can''t predict lines/wait time!

My heart breaks for the times it happens accidentally, like the person you were talking about NuiX. I don''t think I''d be able to deal with myself for a very long time.

I dont mind so much if someone is running into 7-11 or something like that but to go grocery shopping or whatever, just leave the dog home or take it home first. this is OT but you know what bothers me more than this is people who let their dog(s) ride in the back of pickup trucks unrestrained or people who drive with the dog on their lap (what if you slam the brakes, you are probably distracted) or let the dog stick it's head out the window (Not good for their eyes or ears).

aarrrggggghhh I know. Those very same people will tell you that animals are meant to roam free - that drives me crazy too.
