I really like this color for a more interesting neutral! Is it more brown or more purple in real life?

That polish is a bit of chameleon. Sometimes it looks more purple, sometimes more brown and sometimes more grey. Unfortunately, it's been discontinued :nono: .

ETA. Just checked ebay and it's still available there. It's one of my favorite neutrals.

Because I was getting my new band on Thursday and felt I needed a new mani to celebrate, I was a bad teacher and did my nails on Wednesday rather than grade papers  . I don't feel that bad. My polish is three coats RCM Nominated for... topped with one coat of RCM Stealing the spotlight. Here's a sideways picture with my new band. :D :appl:

Picked up a mini cube of Essie's spring 2014 collection. Tried the light pink polish first, Romper Room. The color is very pretty but the formula is terrible. Streaky, hard to move around or level on the nail. Probably the worst Essie I ever had. Will see how the other 3 work out.

This weekend's set! I'm going to a wedding on Saturday :) and I hate cuticle clean up, so doing my nails a few days prior means the paint on my cuticles will come off in time

I keep swarovski and preciosa (off-brand austrian crystal) flat-back crystals at home so I can do my own sparklies and replace them when they fall off. I used to pay my manicurist $5 per nail's sparklies!!! :-o

Did you attach them all by yourself? I'm impressed at the dexterity. Cuticle clean up should be a snap for you.

Essie spin the bottle and resort fling. Resort fling is pretty, but very sheer. I'm wearing green on my toes, but forgot the name of the polish.

Babymonster, thanks for sharing. I'm going to order a few bottles for summer :)

Yes! I have a little compartmentalized box where I store all the different sizes and colors of flat backs, and I used a wax tipped stick to pick the pieces up and place them on the glue or gel top coat. It's definitely easier to do on my non-dominant hand by my dominant hand. It requires no extra dexterity than painting my actual nails, I feel.

Cuticle clean up is just annoying for me, since I usually use another nail to scrape off excess polish that bleeds outside of the nail, and then the thin layer that usually remains on my cuticles get washed off in the next day or two. I'm lazy

I just bought a green polish the other night with my $3 extra bucks from CVS! I picked up a Revlon and only had to pay about $3 extra. I didn't even think about using it for St. Patrick's Day! I might just have to have a delayed Irish manicure for next week!

Took this last week but forgot to post. Think it was taken after about 3 days, though the growth makes it look way longer. Zoya Ivanka.

Sakuracherry - I love the soft coral color you're wearing here. I'm looking for couple bottles of similar colors for summer...I'll have to hunt this one down! ETA - I just ordered a bottle on eBay. Will post pictures of my toes next week!

Oh, no... I read this a little too late. It's a shame -- would be an interesting "neutral."

Wow! I thought you were having someone paint your nails -- I could never get mine to look that good... definitely not on my left hand. #lefthandedproblems

I haven't spent much time on this thread until now...It's making me dizzy trying to look at both the polishes and the rings.

Love your ring, Cocobean!!!

Dior Waterlily for St. Patty's Day, but I did this last Thursday, so it's grown out a bit.

I've found that after putting on my normal nail polish ( base, 2 coats of color, top coat), if I add a thin layer of clear Gel top coat, my nail polish stays on and doesn't chip off right away.

Plus they stay super shiny, although it is hard to see that in the picture!

Tell me about clear gel topcoat? Do you have to use light to set it? How do you get it off? I read yesterday in a magazine it's a great idea to use it!

I'd like to hear about gel topcoat, too. Which brand would you recommend?

I finally painted my toes and ran out in sandals to run a few errands. It's only 51 degrees out but my feet were sick of being layered in shoes/socks so I sprinted in and out of stores. lol! Now its raining... :knockout:

MC,

I hope you like the color. You need three coats for the color to be opaque, but the color after two coats is not bad, either. It's like a soft version of Tart Deco.

msop,

It's just two coats. I love how opaque the color is. It's not a typical pink beige that Essie often makes.

Butterfly,

Your nails look great! Please tell us more about the gel topcoat!

Thanks for the tip! I'll be sure to try three coats.

Normally I buy OPI so this will be a bit of an experiment. In the past Essie has chipped on me, but that color is so soft and nice and hopefully with the gel top coat, it'll stay on my toes for a week or two. I also ended up ordering coral sandals. I'm for sure in an orange mood. Must mean I'm ready for summer sun! :sun:

If you want to use a gel top coat, you need to make sure every layer of your polish is dry underneath. Which means, wait a full day. The polish won't be able to dry properly underneath a cured gel layer.

I use Harmony Gelish, and yes you need a UV or LED lamp.

It's a bit of a PITA, though, so I mostly just use Seche Vite quick dry top coat. It's just as shiny as gel polish, and it lasts quite a long time. It dries in a minute, and dries all the polish underneath properly, too.
