Boulder Opal or possibly a piece of Koiriot Opal.
Its found in Queensland, it’s relatively rare. It’s when water with silica has been trapped within ironstone and over millions of years the trapped water becomes opal.
Each piece is unique.

What would be a fair price? Ty!

What carat gold is it in? That will have an impact on price.
Pieces that size (?) sell for between $200 and $1,200.
I don’t profess to be an expert in Boulder opal pricing though. If the Mount is 14kt gold, and not sure of actual measurements from photo, but it seems to show good red and 50% opal so I’d think around $1,000 is a fair price.

I apologise for disagreeing with you Bron but these opals in matrix are not that rare. It’s easy to buy big specimens under £100
