Oh no, I like that! It goes with my Paraiba Apatite and my Tanzanite Iolite Topaz!

Sapphires - the only color of sapphire I don''t care for is the dark, navy blue
Spinel - love them especially in pinks and purples
Garnets - all of them are nice but tsavorite, spessartitie and rhodolite are amazing
Aquamarine - my jewelry purchasing began looking for a great colored aqua
Tanzanite - love the color

Considering that I already have a demantoid, an alexandrite, a Mahenge spinel, a ruby that is flux-healed but still looks nice, and some spessartines that I like...

- A Kashmir sapphire, (a Burmese one would do, if it is brilliant cut and can "hold" the color
- Another alexandrite, maybe a smaller one, around 1-ct, Russian
- A Burmese spinel
- A Siberian (Uralian) amethyst, coming from Russia
- I''ve never seen a "live" paraiba but Loving Diamond''s photographs are so nice - I probably should add it to the list

1. Traffic lightTsavorite. Green is my favoritre color and I have never seen a greener green than a tsavorite.
2. Red spinel. Red is my 2nd favorite color and spinel is very durable and lustrous.
3. Kashmiri sapphire. I don't usually care for blue, but these things glow.
4. Diamond. Refraction and duability.
5. Tanzanite. I love electric violet, but these are too soft for some uses.

2. Diamond - a nice chunky facet OEC
3. Spinel - pink is my favorite, but I''ll take any color
4. Tourmaline - green is my favorite, but pink is next
5. Garnet - pink is my favorite, then tsavorite, then any color

Oooh, I''ll play!

Disclaimer: I''m very, very new at stones. So here''s my newbie list (in no particular order because I''m bad at decisions):

1)blue sapphire - one that glows, but isn''t too light of a color
2)blue green tourmaline - like that beautiful one of bling addict''s that was set by Brian Gavin
3)opal - my birthstone, no doublets or triplets
4)tsavorite
5)spinel - a bright pinkish-red one

I also love diamonds (of all colors), peridot, aquamarine, pink tourmaline, tanzanite (not too lilac and definitely not blue), just about everything else (although I will say that for the most part orangey stones are way down the list).

1. Tanzanite, easily. I have one that is a dark, richly saturated purplish blue with lots of fire. I love it.
2. Corundum. Pinks, violets, light purples, rubies, and sapphires - all glorious when richly saturated.
3. Spinel - as per above. also, the stone''s durability and relative obscurity makes it that much more attractive.
4. Tsavorite - rich greens and lots of fire. Yes, please!
5. Cuprian tourmaline - whether natural pink/purple or heated to neon blue green, these are among the most deliciously vulgar and flashy gemstones.

I love chrysoberyls too! Especially the ones that are midway between canary yellow and apple green! I actually prefer these to alexandrites (at least until I find an alexandrite that goes from emerald green to ruby red rather than teal green to burgundy).

1. Tsavorite Garnet
2. Cuprian Tourmaline (or any blue-green Tourmaline)
3. Color Change Garnet
4. Smokey Quartz
5. Oregon Sunstone

I have one of each kind so far except for the color change garnet. Now if anyone is willing to give me $600 dollars so that I can rectify that, it would be great! I''d also like a few grand for a really nice sized Tsavorite.

That is rather a diverse list! On the one hand, you list glamourous, flashy stones such as tsavorite and cuprian tourmaline, and then... smokey quartz?

My top five;

1. True orange spessartite garnets. I think my Spess is my favourite coloured stone.
2. Tsavorite garnets.
3. Pale coloured spinels.
4. Sapphires, especially pads, but also lovely cornflower blue sapphires.
5. Diamonds.

Okay, if I was to be marooned for the rest of my life on a desert island (without a gem mine) and only had five lovelies to oggle....

1) demantoid garnet
2) tsavorite garnet
3) mogok ruby - but more orange undertones than purple please.
4) kashmir sapphire
5) sphene

All of the above in at least 3cts and world-class in terms of quality.

If I was to find another stone in the sand I would be torn between a paraiba tourmaline, a mahenge spinel or a Colombian emerald...

1. Tsavorites (surprise).
2. Anything with such strong saturation that it looks neon (mandarin garnets, Mahenge spinels, Paraibas0.

That''s it!

0. Near-colorless diamond (yeah yeah, I know, bad CS''er. Sorry! But it''s true)
1. Deep green emerald with blue undertone
2. Pigeon-blood red spinel // ruby (haven''t seen a superfine ruby in person outside a museum so I dunno which one I''d go with; the spinel I have seen and liked)
3. Black star sapphire
4. Classic blue sapphire (Ceylon, Kashmir, whatever you want to call it)
5. Blue-white moonstone (if the diamond at #0 doesn''t count)
2.gif

I still need to get #2 and 4 to complete my collection. So... check back in 30 years.
