This strand was something that I had been working on for about a year. I actually purchased all the pearls separately from different vendors over the course of 9-10 months (I got some from thepearlhouse on etsy, continental pearl on etsy, pearl society on eBay, Druzydesign on eBay, pearl paradise and one or two other I can't remember)
Once I had all the pearls I sent it to PP to have them drill the few that weren't drilled, to assemble the necklace and string it for me. This look is with the necklace and bracelet, the two together are 28 inches.

Kamokas harvest strands were the inspiration, and I still want to buy one. But before I shelled out the money for one I wanted to see if I liked the harvest strand style and if I got a lot of wear from it before I invested in a Kamoka one. PP has harvest strands too from time to time as well.

OK, so these Kojima Tahitians are the part of the reason I'm not getting the Edisons. This was last week, I think, when it was still cool enough to wear a tweed jacket.



Last week, when it got hot, a summer denim dress. The Tahitian and opal earrings with the Swan on a yellow gold tube knit choker.



And today, hotter than hell. Another summer denim dress. This time my white gold Mikimoto huggies with the Swan on a white gold tube knit choker.

The Kojima glamour shots are just good enough to show exactly what the pearls looks like, but not oversell them. Sometimes I find the PP glamour shots are too good. They do such a good job of capturing all the overtones in the Tahitians, that when you get them in real life, those overtones are not so pronounced, and the pearls are a bit disappointing in comparison. I think that's what prompted the Glamour shots vs. IRL thread.

My BBAs are 10 mm. They're silver blue with rose overtones. I wanted baroque shapes, but no warts or pits or overly pointy bits. There are lumps which are creamy as opposed to blue, which I'm not crazy about, but you really have to be within 2 inches of the pearls to even notice. When I take a photo and look at them like everyone else does, they're great.

Actually the "golden light" comment was just making a bit of a pun on the "golden snitch" and the yellow color of the light in the photo. If you've read the Harry Potter novels, then the comment makes sense. It's hard to explain out of context. In the books, Harry plays a game called Quidditch, which is like football, basketball, soccer, etc. all rolled into one and played in the air while flying on broomsticks. Harry's position on the team is to catch the flying ball called the snitch. It's gold. It looks a lot like the necklace, only the necklace is better. English schools have "houses" which the students are grouped into, to promote competition and cooperation. They are usually named after old headmasters of the schools. Harry's "house" is called Gryffindor. You earn points for your "house" when you do something good, and you lose points for your "house" if you do something bad. Peer pressure makes sure you stay in line. Did that make any sense at all?

I grew up in England and my school was exactly like Hogwarts, only without all the magic. It was a big old Victorian house, with a rabbit warren of rooms for the classrooms. And the grounds had a magical wood in which we were all convinced that fairies lived. I loved it.

Wow, I am not a Harry Potter reader, but I have seen the first movie. Love it too! I can't imagine and I would love a a life (visit) in England and anything old school, I did like that about the movie ... the set decoration and staging were fab. Thanks for sharing.

Hi ricezo, thanks!! You're too nice! It's the 7.5-8mm 35-inch freshwater pearl (not Freshadama) necklace from PP. I like to wear it as one long strand, it feels good for casual or slightly more dressy wear, but it's also a good length to wear in two strands.

I had some baroque and rosebudish baroque tahitians left over from a project, so I fashioned myself a quick little chain. I have it very long because I am a sucker for long necklaces

Ckrickett: Nope, I bought the green necklace from a professional jeweler. His wife made the necklace part.

Today I wore my druzy quartz and pearl pendant with my yellow gold Mikimoto earrings.



And then I picked up The Hamantaschen, which was finally finished, from my jeweler. I bought the pearl from Pacific Pearls and had my jeweler set it invisibly so it looks like it's floating on the white gold cable. There's a 7 point diamond in the pearl's hole, which is the front side of the bail.



Between the Tahitians and the Hamantaschen, my pearl fund is spent out this month. That's why I had to pass on the Edisons, again.
