Good morning, all - I hope this is posted in the right place...
I am hoping to get an expert opinion about the cost of white gold alloys. I have found an 18k WG setting from a well known designer and have inquired about the alloy used. The response from the sales rep at the "bridal trunk show" said: "we use the same thing everyone else uses" - on further questioning, he said it was a nickel alloy. I asked about a palladium alloy, and he said it could be done, but that it would increase the cost of the ring by $250! I am not allergic to nickel, and have no problem with re-rhodium plating if it needs to be done, but should getting a "whiter" base metal be that much more expensive????
