#4 is really nice. It would be a good choice.

I didn't notice the dead spot you were talking about, got a timestamp?

I'm on a flight and YouTube won't load. During his first review of #4, there's this hollow square "frame" that pops up. For all I know it's a normal aspect. But that was my only concern, at least at 10x ;-)

Here's an example on a stone I found on Google. Sorry I can't upload the photo itself from mobile. Thanks all.

I don't see what you are referring to in #1. And yes, you are talking about something very small magnified quite a bit.

It's the fourth stone, his favorite choice. But in the first section, so the first time he's looking at it.

I'll post the time stamp when I get home. Looks like the black "square frame" in the link in the prior post. Probably nothing worth worrying about, but still curious.

I looked at it again. But didn't see anything alarming.

When we went through them the first time my favorites in order were 2,4,1. 3&4 weren't in the running. 2 was eliminated. And 1 and 4 were tied. Then I saw the size difference, and you said #1 was too small, and that left 4.

THAT SAID.

You should NEVER compare carat weight with EC's. You should always compare spread (dimensions). And #1 is NOT much smaller than #4.

A 1.75 EC and easily be smaller than a 1.6 carat one.
It all depends on the depth/table/crown/girdle, etc.

Okay.

Ok here's a snapshot of the "square" on #4 that I see. "Dead spot" is likely the wrong term, but in any case, should you see those black facets? Or should it all be white reflected light? Thanks for any guidance.

I'm still on mobile so apologies for the Imgur link. Here it is at the four-minute mark:

I see it. It's normal and fine. :) You want them to light up at different times. If they don't then they all go dark at once, and they all go light at once. You want the stone to have light and always have some facets that are bright.

Interesting. What did Jon say about the ASETs.

I'm not aware of a Jon. I've been working with David at GOG. He's yet to chime in on the ASET's, I just know his opinions from the video.

Jon is the man on the video who owns the store.

I still like the 1.75. It's a lovely stone.

Hi all,

I received the ASETs from James Allen. I created a new thread that clearly lays out the five contenders (2 GOG, 3 JA). I asked if this was Ok a few posts ago and didn't hear back, so I apologize in advance if it's confusing.

The link is below, and I look forward to hearing your opinions. By this point I feel like they're all probably beautiful to look at, so I thank you kindly for your assistance with getting me to this point of a memorable purchase. I look forward to sharing the results!

Hi Chrono and Gypsy,

I'm going to be pulling the trigger in the next few hours. I couldn't locate where to send a personal message, figured this is the only way to reach you.

No problem if you're too busy, but I've enjoyed working with you on this special purchase and would be excited to have your feedback on the final five choices. Here's a link if so:
