Thought that I would bring this to every tanzanite lovers' attention. It is a single large crystal of 16,839 carats, well over 3 kilo or over 6 pounds. It has been named after Kilimanjaro’s second highest peak, in respect for futher finds it would not be called after the highest peak Uhuru.

Sincerely Procer

Would serve nicely as a small weight, although I don''t know how folks at the gym would react

You can also use it as a weapon for self-defence

Thanks for the photo, that''s surely one enormous piece of tanzanite and a very nice crystal specimen. Very cool!

I thought most Tanzanite came out of the ground a beetroot brown colour. So has this one already been heated do you think?

It reminds me of a grape popsicle.

I''d love to see what this looks like once cut.

To klewis

That is actually a really, really good question. And as you say usually the tanzanite from the mines is brown'ish when it comes up. I have found no reference to whether or not this stone has been heated or if it was like this from the time it came up. But my personal ques, based on the photos I have seen and the lack of information regarding its heating efter it was found, I would quess that is earthed heated as some rare speciments are. Sorry that I couldn't give any real conclusiv answers, but you got my acknolgement of your question.
