I'm throughly exhausted and sooo happy the summer holidays have started.

Doing cultural outings with my children this week.

We'll be taking it easy: day 14 after my second shot (Saturday, yay!!) My fully vaccinated immediate family will visit ( by own car) and we'll see each other for the first time !! Yay!!!

Afterwards we'll evaluate the C19 (Delta variant ) situation and travel restrictions in place and spontaneously decide whether we can travel ourselves (several Euro countries went back on the high risk list already, so impossible to go there - not that I'd want to go to a hot spot).

What about you guys?

We are keeping it pretty low key this summer.

Happy we are on the back end (hopefully) of the pandemic and just being careful due to the variants we still don't know enough about.

We are cycling weather permitting and just spending time together enjoying the simple things in life. Getting to be a bit more social seeing friends and family but outside and not going overboard. We had people over at our house (backyard for the most part but indoors one time due to high heat) four times now since the pandemic and looking forward to a few more of those weather permitting.

We were planning a trip into the city to see a show and have dinner with friends but I am rethinking those plans. Not sure we should be indoors seeing a show that is over 2.5 hours long with so many other people. So perhaps we can reschedule that for next year. Better safe than sorry.

Congratulations on receiving dose 2 with your family @kipari !

We are in Winter and lockdown (Sydney, Australia). So no going anywhere except for exercise (within 10kms of home) and 1 person per household can shop for essential food. Sigh. DD birthday lunch was postponed and still postponed. My birthday in 2 weeks will also not include any going out. I can’t even go and collect my birthday present. Sad face.
My brothers visit to Sydney has already been cancelled / postponed 3 times since 2020 (he’s in Perth) and Dad is stage 4 cancer so it’s hard.
Ho hum.

Oh my gosh I’m so sorry to hear that!! I haven’t been on the up and up with the situation in Australia- is it that the vaccine rollout is slow?

Summertime is Me time. While hubby works, I garden, exercise, read and just chill out! I love summer!
We will get to the beach for a week, but it will be more local this year (need to sink my toes in the sand) but other than that we’ll take day trips in the Northeast.
I hope every day that Covid is under control for back to school in the fall.

Keeping fingers crossed for everything to be under control come fall!!
If I remember right you're a teacher and you come across as caring and very involved. Good teachers are giving giving giving the entire school year, so time to recharge your batteries is super important!!!

Unfortunately, nowhere.

Last time we went anywhere was 2 years ago. We did 4 nights in NYC with the then 12 year old.

The teenager is on a road trip with grandparents now. All fully vaccinated, just confirming.

As for the adults in our house, we will not have the opportunity to go anywhere for at least another 2 years. Other half uses all his vacation for school- doctorate program and works full time. I have vacation and just don't take it (or any time off) because he doesn't have any time to go.

By the time we probably reasonably take a vacation anywhere, I think it will be only be once the teenager is out of high school, so at least 4 years.

Aww, shucks and you are a loving, caring and involved mom which shows in your every word. ❤️ Moms like you make my job easy!
Thanks so much for your kind words! You have made my day! Yes, a much-needed recharge is just what I need!
I just heard that we may still need masks in September inside and that just makes me so sad…I have sorely missed those inquisitive little faces!!

Plrase don't forget to take care of yourself! 6 years without any time off is a lot!

So far, flew to New Orleans in early June and had a blast. A week after that flew to Chicago to help DD find an apartment. Spending my free time visiting friends and family, going to parties, shopping, beach, casino—life seems like it’s back to normal!

We don't have any family trips planned because my teens are working and interning. We are going to the county fair for the day a family, and I have a 3 day work trip to Las Vegas in August, my husband is thinking of driving up and joining me for 1-2 days for a mini get-away.

All of us are staying active, and doing lots of outdoor activities with our own friend groups, not with the family....tennis, hiking, mountain-biking, beach volleyball, roller skating etc.

We are all fully vaccinated, but are still cautious and wear our masks when indoors around crowds (like in a mall).

Sounds like you need a solo long weekend away or a girls weekend ;-)

My job normally takes me to Europe (Italy and France) in the summers and typically we vacation there once job is completed. But the past two summers were canceled bc of Covid. We are fully vaccinated and spent two weeks in the Pacific Northwest in Seattle and Olympic national Park which was really lovely. We visited Yellowstone last summer. Sticking to outdoor activities bc of the virus. Fingers crossed that we make it back to Europe in 2022 but it’s been nice seeing American National Parks!

I need one of those jobs that takes me to France and Italy! Exciting!

We decided not to send our 2 Littles to summer camps this year, so we are home with rambunctious 5 and 3 year old boys. Between 3 adults (me, DH, and MIL), we are trying to keep them busy and entertained, which is a full time job. Luckily we are both still working from home so we are juggling the best we can :eek-2:

We're staying close this summer, probably do a few beach trips once weather gets hot but we just finished a stock tank pool in the backyard, so honestly hoping to be able to stay home more with that.

Only plan we have in place is at the end of the summer meeting up with my sister's family from Maine, pending cases continue to stay low.

My previous job took me to Paris twice a year and it was so lovely! I was supposed to go back last year which obviously didn't happen, and now I've moved to a different role which won't require any international travel ;(

Looks like we're not getting any further than about 3 1/2 hours away from our house this summer:(2. Plan on taking my DD to
a spring tomorrow for some swimming (72-degree water :eek2: ) and hopefully some kayaking. Next year we're planning on
Washington DC for spring break like we had planned for 2020. It doesn't feel like its going to be the same though. I hope everything will
be back up and going. At least the fence will be down from around the Capital building!

DH and I just got back from a remote cabin for a week. He fished and I read….HEAVEN! We both feel recharged and very thankful for the time with each other! Hoping to go see family for a long weekend later this summer. Our kids are in the work full time and school phase of life, so we probably won‘t be doing a family vacay.

I'm not travelling for vacations yet. I normally go to Europe a few times a year, and had to cancel several trips last year, didn't plan any for this year and I think I'll be lucky if I can go next year. Even if we could leave the county and go to Europe now, things are too unsettled and restrictions could turn on a dime, so it just didn't make sense to try to plan or book anything. I'm definitely not happy about it.:(

I've been taking care of my mother. Our big goal was to get her well enough to travel to California and celebrate her birthday with her siblings (including her sister, who has stage IV cancer, and she shares a birthday with). Today we booked our tickets!
