Hey guys, found the right diamond and now shopping for the mounting. first things first, we bought a 1.10 carat G VS2 ideal cut diamond. We are kinda torn between two different setups:

1) a plain 14k white gold cathedral or similar style band. Just an ordinary mounting.

2) Something with diamonds on the band. Now the reason I mentioned the diamond above is because my fiance is worried that surrounding diamonds will "take away" from the center stone. The band we like has H-I color diamonds, and I1 clarity. Is this a bad combo with the GVS2 center stone? Should I follow some type of guideline? I''ll be buying online if I go with the attached band, so I can''t exactly see it before I buy.

This is what we like: http://www.philipnoel.com/_e/_99_499/product/LJ7720/zoom_img/LJ7682_1109723234.jpg

I wouldn''t buy a mounting with I stones unless I could see it first. What is the vendor''s return policy? PN I believe has mall store quality like Kays. And at Kays I can always see the black inclusion in the stones even the tiny ones. I know that PN has some SI settings... you would probably have better luck of eyeclean with those. What is your budget? Personally if it were me and I wanted a diamond setting on a budget I''d check out adwar.com, pick out a couple of nice settings that I liked... then I''d call WF for a qoute. Their melee will outshine anything PN has, and their polishing is quite good. So personally, that''s the route I''d take if you have a very limited (500 bucks max for example) budget.

Poor quality diamonds would be a sign that I''d avoid the ring. I agree with Gypsy that small diamonds of good quality from somewhere like WhiteFlash would be a better choice. But I''d choose from one that WF has on their site.

Any other links for reputable dealers selling bands in the 500-700 dollar range? Whiteflash only has 1 or 2 in this pricerange

That looks an awful lot like a Tacori. Are you sure that those stones are only I1? I am sure that they use better than SI/G.
