Seeking feedbacks on earring jacket CAD

Hello,
I have DK designing the earring jackets with this ring as the inspiration. What I love about it are
  • The pointy prongs but instead of 4 I would like 6
  • The back profile but instead of petals I would like hearts
  • No airline
  • The center stone sits low into the jacket looking like a unit
My diamonds are shy of 1 carat each and I would like bigger coverage due to large earlobes, so I requested him to try 11mm and 12mm. In this CAD you will see 12mm with 2.6mm melees or 2.3 for 11mm alternatively. The inspired ring is 7.6mm center with 1.2mm melees.
1. What is the largest melees should I go with and not ruin the aesthetic? I am greedy but do not like the cluster look or just bad taste lol.
2. Do you have any suggestion on the height 5.15? Lower or higher or as is?
3. Petals or hearts, it will be covered up when wearing but I am thinking of having a ring to match in the future. In that case, how many hearts would I have? The design has 6 petals now.
I would have gotten a normal jacket for less than half the price with IDJ. I maybe overdo with this but I would like to make sure there is no regret. Appreciate your feedbacks. DK 99047-QUAD-5.jpeg

Can't see the CAD with 2.3mm/11mm overall.

Could we have both the 2.6mm/12mm and 2.3mm/11mm CADs side by side for comparison purposes please?

I personally like the proportion of the 2.6mm/12mm.

However, I would still consider it as a halo, and would consider using bigger stones to achieve a flower cluster look, as I too have big earlobes and have a pair of jackets that are nearly 20mm in diameter (please excuse diamond stud which is about 0.5ct in a 6mm bezel setting and too small for this jacket):

I would like a pair of LGD jackets for my diamond studs so that they look these in my inspiration pic, I am guessing the stones in the jackets would be about 3mm to my 6mm overall studs.

Your earrings are lovely and unique. I would like to achieve the halo look (not cluster) with this jacket though. Unfortunately I do not have the 11mm CAD, supposedly it would be 2.3mm instead of 2.6mm melees.

Hmmm, difficult to visualise the difference in aesthetic between the two, sorry!

I would not go bigger than 2.6mm based on the photos in the original post if a halo is what you are after and not a cluster.

I would also not go bigger than the 2.6mm. Would like to see the 11mm cads. The melee are pretty big compared to your
center stone size verging more on the cluster look so I wouldnt go any bigger.

These arent actually "jackets" are they? Jackets are something you can separate from your earrings so you can still wear
your earrings as studs as well slide the jackets on and have a bigger halo look. These look more like a halo earring setting.

I thought the same too, based on the orientation of the claws that I could see in that they are all curved towards the centre diamonds.

For a CAD for jackets, I would expect to see the CAD for the jackets on their own without the centre diamond stud, then with the studs in place to show how they would sit together.

if 12mm looks big, which size would you go with? I will confirm with DK if this is the jacket. He may misunderstood my request when I sent him the inspired ring.

2.3mm/11mm overall may look more proportionate as a halo.

Have you considered a double halo, just throwing the idea into the ring?

If these are actual "jackets" does DK have your earring studs?

I kind of like @dk168 's idea of a double halo with smaller stones. I think that would keep the look more like a halo and less like
a cluster while giving you a bigger look...but you have to like the look of a double halo.

@dk168 ...I noticed from the bottom there is no hole for the post to come through however, these CADs say Not Finished...so not
really sure what I'm seeing

Looking at the CADs in the OP again, I suspect, and I could be wrong, that the purple parts are new settings for the original diamonds, cast/made at the same time so they would fit the jackets nicely without any gaps/airlines.

However, the centre hole at the bottom of the jackets does not appear to have any leeway for the posts to move at all, which would be my concern.

However, I could be wrong.

Still waiting to hear back from DK whether it is a jacket or halo earrings. I still have my studs here and they are 3 prongs. The understanding is that DK will remake the studs to 5 or 6 prongs to fit the jacket flushed. But that was before I sent him the ring picture.

It seems like you are trying to obtain a specific diameter with the halo. But to obtain that the earrings won't have the same look as the ring in terms of the relative visual proportions of the halo stones to the center stone. The halo stones in the earrings are much bigger in proportion to the center stone than in the ring. Just pointing that out to make sure you aren't disappointed with what you receive.

I tried my best to crop the 11mm and 12mm looks together for comparison. Which look do you prefer? DK confirmed it will be a jacket. IMG_2560.jpeg

I prefer the 11mm for the look you're going for...smaller pave (but more), less of a cluster look.

So he is making you new stud earrings too? Pretty sure they would not be "remaking" your 3 prongs to be 5 or 6 prongs. They
would start from scratch.
