Ring is too small..

Hello, i was wondering if anyone knew what was the process in order to make the ring loop bigger? I ordered a certain size and when i gve it to my fiancee it is too small on her finger. When i measured her finger with the special ring tape i measured the begining of the finger as opposed to the bone in the middle and therefore it doesn''t fit. I asked my jewlerer and he said he can only make it bigger by half a size, i''m sure it will be enough but i was just wondering how that worked.

How and how much sizing can be done depends on what kind of ring that is. The very simple ones can be sized up a couple of sizes, but if there is anything done on the shank (engraving, plave...) sizing gets very restricted.
