It looks great and what matters is that you like it better, its really all a matter of personal preference. That beautiful diamond looked good on either sized band. But I don't blame you, my e-ring started out with a 4mm band and I had shaved to 2.7mm and I'm MUCH happier with it now.

I love your band! It looks lovely on your hand. My temporary setting was 1.9 mm and was too thin for my taste.

Wow great rings everyone! Kristi, your 1.75ct looks huge w/ the 1.9mm band width... I'm planning on getting my girl a 2.0 - 2.25ct RB and want a setting just like yours. I thought I found one here at James Allen:

http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/pave/18k-White-Gold-Pave-Set-4-Prong-Ring.html

But now I'm worried that the size of the rock would be disproportionately too big relative to the band width... Any comments or suggestions?

kp, you might want to start a new thread asking your question so that others will see it!

I really like your ring the way it is now. But, I understand how you feel, My ring size is 4.75 and I got my band size reduced because I felt it took away from the center diamond (1 carat). Now I want a halo...

I think the ring is beautiful as is and I do like it better with the thinner band 8)

Have you ever thought about perhaps shaving down the prongs a little or making them into claw prongs? Maybe (and I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination) your center stone would stand out even more if you did?

iluveprettyrocks, uh-oh I think I caught the halo bug too!!! I saw your post where you tried on halos and WOW they look stunning and so blingy! I personally love the cushion halo but the round was gorgeous too, were they both set with a 1 carat center stone?

I'm sorry I didn't realized you asked me this question until now :-o . Yes they were both set with a 1 carat center stone :))

Kymbers-I think it looks great on your hand, and with the size of the band. I would have guessed 1-1.2 carats

That was what I was thinking too! As far as band width I think yours is perfect. When they get under 2mm you really need to baby your rings a bit more...at least that is my personal opinion.

I love the setting! And before I even saw the answer I was going to guess .90 to .95...guess I was spot on! (If I hadn't known your finger size was 4.5, I would have guessed it was about 1.2 carats.) Congrats on your engagement!!! :appl:

I think your ring looks great on your hand. I would have guessed around a carat.

It's a very subtle difference, but as long as you're happy I think that's what matters! I think it looks great both ways.

Right under 1 carat, around 0.85 - 0.95.

This thread is from February 2011...a year ago. LOL! How did this come back after a whole year? Too funny.

It is a matter of preference, but the 2.5mm band will last longer. That said, if you want to wear your wedding band on the same finger, thinner would be nice.

I really like the thinner band - and the stone looks SO big with your tiny finger size!
