Hi, recently purchased my other half’s engagement ring, it’s 0.8ct radiant cut, E, VS1. I have however noticed. (Only close up) that it appears to have a bow tie, am I over thinking this or should I speak with my jeweller about changing the stone.

Thanks

Hmm I do see this as well. If this is something that will bother you, reach out and see what the jeweler will do. It cant hurt to ask! Sometimes it takes various different types of light to see light leakage or imperfections like this.

The bow tie is caused by the observer's head and body (or the camera lens) and not leakage.
It is only a bow tie if it is persistent in the same facets through a relatively large range of motion.
This diamond has 4 Type 1 bowties that flash on and off creating scintillation and fire:

Rectangular Radiant cuts are particularly tough to get right. Looking at the pics…. It does seem like a less than great cut.
