Question, on white versus yellow gold.

I''m considering having a pair of earrings made and the jeweler wants to use white gold, then plate it with 18K yellow. The explanation was that it would be stronger, more secure. I should mention these are going to be huggies, with 5 .2 stones per earring. I''m just concerned that the YG will wear off, with many cleanings etc. Does this make sense to the experts out there? My original request was for 18K YG.

These are going to be on your ear...hopefully no harm will come to your ear where the strength of gold is in question...yes, it will come off, and it will be ugly! Just have him do it in 18K YG, it shouldn''t be a problem. Or find a jeweler who will.
