Is there any point in pursuing a chain store about a diamond ring I bought from them which I have now realised has a very thin girdle? Would this be within their type of quality control?

1. Did they say the girdle was something different to what it actually is?
No.
2. Did the stone come with a major lab grading report?
No.
3. Has the stone been analyzed by an appraiser ?
No. I don''t think independent appraisers here, who are few and far between would appraise a diamond under half carat.
4. What are the actual measurements of the girdle?
Don''t know
5. Is the girdle straight and uniform?
Yes except in the Very Thin area. It is exactly like the drawing in Garry Holloways post but his is for a 1 carat stone.

6. Is the whole girdle ''too thin'', or just a small portion?
Just a small portion
7. If you''ve notified the store of your concern, have they offered any thing to help resolve this?
No. Quote: We are confident that our diamonds are what we say they are.
8. Can you post the cert or whatever documentation they gave you?
No cert. I cannot post the document but it states colour, clarity, carat weight on the reverse of the booklet G, SI1, 0.47 and the booklet under cut shows a drawing with ideal cut, too shallow, too deep but no dimensions. The chain stores website is www.beaverbrooks.co.uk
9 Are they any other important implications that threaten the durability of the diamond?
I don''t think so, but I am not qualified to know.
10. Do you mean pursue as in starting a legal action?
No.
