Question about the drawings on grading reports

In a grading report when they show the line drawings of the diamond with the inclusions mapped… Are the lines just generic templates of how the diamond is normally cut, or are they suppose to be highly precise representation of how the diamond is cut?

Usually they''re generic templates.

I qualify that with "usually" because SGL uses diagrams generated by the DiamCalc software, which are much more accurate representations. Some other labs may be doing something similar to this, but not that we''re aware of.
