burk i am so sure that T will do great with the whole potty thing. i really think it''s all about the kid wanting to do it or not or whether it i being forced on them. and it sounds like T is ready for it. yeah, it''s pretty amazing that B''s little buddy, who is 10 days older than him, knows so much. i asked his mom if she teaches him stuff and she basically says he learns it all from tv. the kid has this crazy memory too and is so good with names. he calls me auntie (my name), well he calls everyone auntie blah and uncle blah. FREAKING AMAZING!!! the funny thing is awhile ago when B heard him call me auntie, he started to call me that too, and i had to keep telling him that i was mommy. haha.

tgal enjoy the peace and quiet and the stage where amelia will sit still in her stroller, heck where she will sit still period!

bobo it''s totally natural to be worried. heck i was worried about B when his friend was reciting the alphabet and i remember thinking wow, that kid is crazy smart, then immediately, it turned into, "dang, B why can''t you do that?!!?" haha. if the specialist is not concerned, you should not be either. there are so many things to worry about raising a child, this is the LAST thing you need to worry about! B seems to be a happy kid who knows and loves elmo and a little dancing machine.

SB so sorry to hear about your mom. if she isn''t showing sign of being ready to use the potty, there is no rush to push it. good luck with the weaning..i guess she is just super persistent about nursing huh? IMO, when she is nursing for comfort, then it''s time to wean, but if she isn''t using it for comfort, then you should be ok. but only you can decide what is best for you and her. have you been able to cut out any feedings?

bobo haha, gotta love the baby einstein!! i''m feeling ok, no great but not too bad...no complaints. i was just wondering if the 2nd kid shows MUCH faster than the first cause i swear i need to bring out my maternity clothes already and i am only 9 weeks. haha. how are the kids doing?

mrsS YAY, glad you guys had a safe trip home!

We just got home from the ER. little B was running in the living room tonight and tripped. He went flying and hit his head on the edge of the table, the wound is so big the doctor had to give him 5 stitches. I think my heart stopped when I picked him up from the floor, the blood and the wound.....

We need to monitor him for the next couple days...

Behind...but I wanted to let Bobo know I am thinking about her and little B! Poor little guy.

The invites are done!
36.gif
24 hours and I addressed, stamped, assembled (complicated) 125 invites. Tessa is 19 months today

Talk about time flying by. Hope all the mamas and toddlers have a happy day. Gotta go get my monkey up.

Bobo--oh poor little B (and poor mommy!) I wish him speedy-healing dust. It is SO hard to watch them in pain/distress isn''t it?!Did you have to keep waking him up last night in case of a concusion?

I wonder how many kids get through childhood without the ''forehead gash"? I think everyone i know has a scar either there, or just below their bottom lips (i have both) Oh boy, i am really dreading all these accidents.

Bobo, I'm so sorry to hear about little B. I'm sure it was really scary for both of you. You're lucky it wasn't any worse. I'm sure we'll be coming across lots of posts like this in the future when everyone's kids are being daredevils. Hang in there, mama. He's going to be just fine.

puffy, in my personal experience, you definitely show earlier with the 2nd one! I think it's because your stomach muscles are already relaxed and they have a memory so you'll probably be looking preggo sooner than later. How many weeks are you now?

bobo poor little B!!! i hope he is doing ok and you are too. it must have been such a scary situation.

tacori YAY for finishing the invites!!! you are such a great sis for doing or for her. happy 19 month to T!! how time flies. B''s going to be 18 months this weekend.

curly i''m just 9 weeks, but i swear that belly is popping. haha. it''s most likely a ton of bloat, but i''m pretty sure there''s a little bump in there that will be popping out soon.

THanks ladies, it was a very scary night for us. I cried as hard as he is, if it wasn''t because I have to put pressure on his forehead to try to stop the bleeding I think I will pass out from all that blood. He woke up at 3 am this morning screaming and we don''t know if it''s the pain or he got nightmare from the stitches. They had to wrap up him like a burritos when they stitch him up he was so angry I thought he was going to screamed and cried until he passed out. We''re going back to his regular pedi today to get him check out again today.

I know I shouldn''t blame me...but I do...I feel like such a bad mother. I was right there and I couldn''t catch him to stop this from happening. I hate me for it.

lili~I asked about vitamins at T''s 15 mo. check-up and our pedi said no need, too. I would call your pedi since he/she knows J and could make a recommendation.

SB~So sorry about your mom. So glad you checked in. Can''t wait to see pics!

iluv~Hey there! I am praying she is growing out of the allergies/asthma! Being a banana isn''t all it''s cracked up to be....I have pretty much NO womanly curves and as with any other shape, buying jeans is HARD (especially because I''m 5''10"!).
9.gif

Puffy~T asked to poop in her potty this morning and was successful! (this is the first time she''s asked and actually gone since "the incident" back in March
2.gif
) So, I think we''re def. on the right track. I agree it''s all about the kid being ready. I must admit I''m glad T is ready early. What a smarty friend B has-probably so good for the two of them to get together since they''re both super smart!

Bobo~Please try not to blame yourself! It is NOT your fault. It was an accident. Unfortunately kids will have many accidents.

Bobo, oh I''m so sorry! Poor B - I hope he has a speedy recovery. Please don''t feel bad. I''m so nervous about it as well when Amelia starts walking because like Jas said, I think so many kids end up with bumps, bruises, cuts, wounds, etc on their faces. Do you have a table bumper? Not sure how much they help, but they sell them at BRU. And when I say I am not sure how much they will help, it''s because we have one and she just uses it to pull herself up, so it gets stretched out and not really protecting the table. The corners stay put though, since those are what scare me the most. What looks even worse is we have a bunch of those incontinence hospital sheets that we''ve folded up and wrapped and taped around the bottom of each table leg. Our house looks ridiculous.

Tacori, yay on the invites being done.

Burk, yay on T''s potty success!!!

Ha ha about 5''5" being gigantic. My sister hated being short (compared to me) because we''re both athletes. If you have a minute stop in my house thread...we''re trying to work out the exterior right now (finally convinced DH to get rid of the brick...I just didn''t like it and couldn''t find many arts and crafts houses to use as inspiration that had all the elements we were using). Could use your opinion!

Oh gosh Bobo, how scary.
I hope little B is recovering well and isn''t too uncomfortable w/ his stitchings.
Do you need to keep it bandage to prevent him from scratching it?
Please don''t blame yourself. It''s not like you have the foresight to see that he''s going to trip and hit his head.
And sometimes you can childproof your place like the inside of a pysch ward and they''ll still find a way to get hurt.
Kids will be kids and they are bound to get cuts and bruises here and there.
What we can hope for is that they learn from it and be a little more careful.

Thanks for the input on the vitamin.
I''ll shoot J''s pedi an email and ask -- though I know he''s probably going to say no since he''s pretty lax about everything.

SB
Hey, nice to see you back on here.
Wow, Sabrina is 19 months already? Where has the time gone?
31in is not short....I think that''s average no? That''s about how tall most of the 1.5 yrs old in J''s class are.
Sounds like your little princess is doing really well and want(and can use) a little bro/sis huh?
Hehe, that''s funny about the "chichi".
I am in the process of weaning J myself, so I know what you mean about the fits when they are denied the boobs.
Good luck.

iluvcarats
LOL....cute story about Ava and the arm.
J likes to play w/ my ears when she nurses -- hope she doesn''t need my ear later on in the future.
I know it''s going to just get harder and harder to wean as they grow.
So I''m hoping to have her weaned before her 15 months.
I kinda regressed and give in this morning when she wanted to nurse....too tired to put up a fight.
Funny thing is an hour after she nursed, she ate her oatmeal breakfast (unlike yesterday where she didn''t eat until late afternoon).
Maybe I need to wean her slowly (ie cut the boob time during the feeding).

MrsS
Congrats on being home!
That''s what I figured too that it probably doesn''t hurt to give them vitamins (unless if you are giving them one huge dose of a certain vitamin)
and J certainly is not getting a balanced diet.

Curly
Thanks for the input on the vitamin.
Ha, those Flintstones are like candy.
That''s the brand that I''ll probably get.
I know my nieces didn''t like any other brands.
Their mom made the mistake of getting some Costco brand and the kids didn''t like them.
She found a stash of vitamins behind the bed when she went to fix their beds one day

Bobo: That''s so scary but thankfully he is ok! I''m sure we will all have (if haven''t already) at least one scary moment as they hit the toddler stage! Poor Little B, I hope his boo boo gets better soon.

Iluv & Burk: had to laugh at your exchange. How about shorties that have no figures..a mini banana? haha.

Tacori: you''re a saint for doing those invites. A friend volunteered to do mine during my wedding. Then her bf broke up with her and she suddenly was in NO mood to be generous, so I was in such a bind at that point! After that I vowed never to rely on someone (who is not family) for time sensitive favors! I hope she gave you an extra special thank you!

Since I''m here, thought I''d you BTDT moms about swim outfits for first summers. I asked a similar question before, but saw swimsuits with diapers built in, but not sure if they''re practical? If they poop it must be a big mess! Is there an alternative, like a disposable swim diaper? What do you recommend?

ah ok, so disposable swim diapers do exist. I just saw these swimsuits at Buy Buy Baby...swimsuit with diaper built in. I thought, "OH CUTE and great idea", but then imagined poopy diapers to clean

I think Tacori used the swim disposable diapers -- huggies "little swimmers".
I just put J''s swimsuit over her normal diaper -- it did get saturated when she sat in the water for a long time otherwise it was good.
I''d probably get the little swimmer if we were at the pool instead of the beach.

Yep, Huggies little swimmers! Funny enough I had some leftover from last summer and they still fit my skinny minnie!

built-in diapers in swimsuit is probably not a good idea unless you have a spare swimsuit.
aside from that, i''d hate to have to scrape off her doodoo when cleaning the swimsuit

bobo please don''t be so hard on yourself. i know exactly how you feel, i was feeling the exact same way when B got burned with my hot water. but you know, accidents happen. the important thing is that little B will be ok.

burk YAY T!!! she''s is definitely going to catch on quick with the potty. B''s smart little buddy is a riot though and when the two of them get together, it is so funny! he teaches B so many things. he will say something, and B will be like, huh, what does that mean, and he will explain it to him. so cute. just today B was explaining something to me and i asked him who told you that? he said, jimmy. and they have so much fun together. when is T''s appt with the allergist?

lili to have J weaned by 15 months is a good start, at least you have a plan. i bet she was happy to get to nurse this morning. that is so strange that she will put on a hunger strike if she does not get to nurse. girl knows what she wants that''s for sure!!

hope everyone''s doing well!!

Poor little B. It must’ve made you sick to your stomach to see his little head bleeding. I am so sorry that the accident happened, but you handled it well. You are a great mommy.
No, I didn’t have much symptoms with M. So this is all kind of new. LOL. I was telling DH that I was uncomfortable and this baby is trouble, and he said “make you appreciate what a good baby M was every time you look at her.” Geez what happened to just being sympathetic.
Burk
I would love to see pics of T’s ladybug themed party if you get a chance. When we (well mostly I) were thinking about theme, DH was like you can do Tinkerbell. But I wanted to avoid a character b/c I figure she’ll ask for character themed party when she is older. I don’t remember how I ended up with the ladybug idea, but it’ll work out great since I plan to get her the Ladybug Wheely Bugs for her gift.
Yay for T pooping in her potty.
lili
It’s less than 2 months before M’s bday. Am I planning too early? I figure I need to get the invites out a month before and let people RSVP. The things I talked about are things I want to do; it doesn’t necessarily mean it will happen. =P
This pregnancy is so different from M’s. I didn’t get much symptoms with her. But maybe I am just being a whiner about the little things.
Wow J is persistent with nursing. Had you been able to cut out any feedings yet? I think I might have to wean M sooner than expected b/c my supply had dipped this week. You think I can start introducing milk or should I wait. I am wondering in case my supply died, and I need to give her something else.
puffy
LOL. I probably look more than 20 weeks pregnancy. I am just trying to hide it under clothes.
Tgal
A is such a laid back kid. I bet she is just taking everything in, and one day she’ll start walking and talking like she’s been doing for months. And your attitude is just awesome.
SB
Glad to hear from you.
So sorry about your mom. Big hugs.
Sounds like Sabrina is doing great. I looked for mommy groups on meetup.com before, but I didn’t like the idea of fees and mandatory play dates. Plus a lot of them are geared toward SAHM, so they are doing things on weekdays. Hope you have better luck than me.
Good luck with weaning, so you can TTC again. But then again, you can just get knocked up while still nursing like me. LOL.
iluvcarats
Thanks. I expected to show earlier, but not this early (at 6 weeks). But I don’t mean a real bump, but this bloated gut is not as cute since it’s soft and jiggles.
I can’t believe you are only 5’. You look taller than that.
Tacori
Yay for finishing the invites.
MrsS
Glad you are finally HOME.
Janine
There are also reusable swim diapers. I just got a speedy one. I figure it will save us money in the long run, but it’ll probably be messy. I will have to wait until M poops in the swim diaper before deciding if reusable swim diaper is a good idea.

iluv, I am 5'1" so I hear ya pain short sista! I ALWAYS wanted to be taller. Still do. For some reason I thought 5'5" would be a perfect height. That way you could be tall with heels but still shorter than most guys (I was in high school when this dream was born). Of course I had to marry someone a foot taller than me. Hopefully T will be average. There is NOTHING wrong with average in my book
2.gif

Puffy, time certainly does fly. She is getting so funny. How are you feeling?

Bobo, accidents happen. Honestly, I know it is easy for me to say but please don't blame yourself. Hope he is doing okay.

Burk, I don't know, a tall banana sounds good to me too
2.gif
I am a cross between pear and hourglass. More like a shot glass since I am so short. My doc said no vitamin either. T is awesome! I cannot believe she goes on her potty. So smart!

TGal, I am glad they are done (except for the few that I didn't have the address to).

Lili, that is cool you can e-mail your pedi. 24 hours is impressive. It was a long night! I am just glad to be done.

janine, I felt guilty b/c i haven't helped her with her wedding plans. Of course she is the most laid-back bride you have ever seen. My dad told me she should pay me but honestly that is what family is for. In the end I didn't mind but wish I hadn't had such a tight deadline. That did stress me out. I use both pampers and huggies swim diapers. I buy whatever I have a coupon for and/or on sale. I see no difference except my DD does LOVE Dora. Some pools also require a rubber diaper cover. Obviously this would not work on the ones already built in. If you are eco-friendly they DO make fabric swim diapers (BRU) that are separate from the suit. Still a better option than the all in one b/c you can buy an extra and use the rubber cover if you need to.

Nothing new with me. I tried on designer jeans today (which was a HUGE mistake) and now want a pair. They are over 2x what a normally spend on jeans. I am trying to resist.

ETA: Thanks Q! Honestly they run sales and there are always coupons so a box of swim diapers aren't that bad.
