I think that ID Jewelry is the way to go on a budget and they will be great help! They can also provide access to more ornate settings at a discount, if that's what you're leaning towards.
If you did get a smaller diamond and give it some oomph - here's a $750 (MSRP - check the price on that with ID or GOG, it may be lower) halo that works with a round brilliant.
