People often have a hard time figuring out whether a blue stone is a topaz or aquamarine. Well, aquamarines can tell you what they are! I love playing with the pleochroism. If you view the stone one way, it’s blue, and turn it in another direction, and it’ll be warmer (toward green). Here’s my aquamarine ring, with one picture taken right before the other, same lighting.
(If you remember seeing this ring before, I recently removed the little diamonds that used to be on the sides, and I like it better without them).
I know tanzanite has three colors (blue, purple, and red) when viewed from different directions, and that’s really neat, too!
