I was quoted a price of $10,900 for a GIA certified, Round 1.54ct vs2, H, diamond - 62.5% Depth, 58% table, measurements are 7.37 x 7.39 x 4.61. Both polish and symmetry are VERY GOOD, and there is no flourescence

can someone tell me if the price the jeweler is asking is a fair price

You are paying about $800 - $1000 more compared to White Flash, Dirt Cheap, and others.

This is a heavy cut diamond. It doesn''t measure the requisite 7.5mm. The fact that it is VERY GOOD polish and symmetry is really irrelevant. The 62.5 depth makes it too heavy.

Your depth and table should be...

Depth 60.1 -61.9
Table 55-57

It means that there is more weight in the depth of the stone than is ideal. You will pay the price for the weight without it being visable (thus the smaller than 7.5mm diameter that 1.5ctw stones ideally have), and it may impact the performance of the stone.
