Platinum or white gold?

How do you all feel about white gold versus platinum? I am allergic to nickel, and so if I got a white gold ring, it would be palladium white gold, which I hear is whiter and doesn''t need to be replated as often. Anyone have any experience with this? Is platinum worth the extra price? If I like shiny (and I do), would it be better to go with white gold?
