Hi all,

This is my first time looking into gemstones, I am not very good in judging which is better cut and quality, andI also have no ideas what colour should I look into to make a nice ring. I will like to make a ring similiar like tiffany legacy, with the links available below, can you please advise which is better cut, colour in terms of visuality? For the first two link which are pink and blue gemstones, is that a cushion cut? To me it looks more like an oval cut, if i like these, can these make the dream ring I want? Or you have better gemstones choices for me somewhere? First a start, i do not want to spend so much as for first time as there will be a lots of trial and error, I want to have a feel first, then maybe the next purchase I will splurge more. Appreciate you could help. Thanks!

hm.. I''m def. not an expert but the top couple look very dark in the center, maybe windowed? I like the spinel the best. Are the sellers reputable?

My vote is the second to last one, the purple one. Tan does such good work and if you search for gemburionline, another of his ebay names, you will see he is well liked on the forum.

Is there a color preference you prefer? Honestly, blue and violet spinels are one of the most difficult stones to ascertain from a photo or a video. Many tend to be very greyish in person. I agree with Ruffysdad that the black background on some of those gems means "washed out" color.

hi ladies, thank you all your opinion. I don''t have any colour in mind and I am open to any colour except shocking pink, red or orange, and also I don''t want the colour of the stone turns out to be very dark and dull which I couldn''t even see the beauty of the cut. I am also considering a color shift garget http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370388054299&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT . Do you think it will be a better choice compare to the majority vote?

and also, after seeing so many gemstones from the members, i am draw towards the asscher cut, but i would like to know if there is difference between Tan''s asscher cut and the precision cut by famous cutter? I have no doubts that the gemtones by these precision cut are truly stunning, but the things is this is my irst time buying from Tan, so i wonder how good the cut can it be. I am thinking if should i go for the best or save a bit and go for Tans.
Please give me your opinion! Thanks!

I have an asscher tanzanite from Tan that is really nicely cut. It''s not a classic asscher as the windmills don''t go all the way in to the center. It''s also not as well cut as my Peter Torraca prasiolite asscher, but I still think it''s really nice. I don''t have any really good pics, but this one shows the faceting fairly well:

Forgot about the vendor pic of my stone set in a pendant; it shows the faceting off much better:
